With all this talk about Ozzie Smith...

Whether it be his selling off his awards and memorabilia through SCP several months ago or the prices of his PSA 9 and 10 1979 Topps cards, there has been a lot of Ozzie Smith talk recently.

I am really happy to have been able to pick up the card below over the weekend. I couldn't find a good way to estimate the value of it, given the low population numbers and this being the only PSA 10, so I just went for it.

1978 Family Fun Centers Ozzie Smith card. It's his only card from 1978. That was a real plus for me. I also remember these cards when I was a little kid growing up in San Diego.

Super cool card. I have seen a few of these in a PSA 9 on EBAY and always thought this was an excellent card.

    Congratulations!

Very nice card. I wonder if it was from the same Consignor who got $991.00 for the Topps "PSA 9" Rookie?

  • Great-looking card -- I always like to see the good cards of defensive stars with a glove on their hand.

I had the pleasure of watching Ozzie for his entire career here in STL and I've never seen a better card
    of the Wizard.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was to convince the PSA 10 collector he didn't exist.

Thanks guys. The card did come from PWCC. $1525. Coming up with my bid was sort of like throwing a dart at a dart board. I just figured this very well could be my only chance at ever getting this card at this grade.

Yes, I saw that it came from PWCC. I was wondering if they got it from same Consignor. Maybe someone was liquidating their collection.

All I can say is WOW. I too grew up in San Diego and vaguely remember those cards. Family Fun Centers were the place to be for kids in San Diego. A PSA 10 of those has got to be a needle in a haystack...congrats

  • Great card! Like it way better compared to his Topps rookie. Got to love those odd ball regional issues.

Family Fun Centers in San Diego had a combination of an arcade, miniature golf, batting cages and (at some locations) water slides or go karts. It used to do massive business and was THE place for kids to go to south of Disneyland. Those were the days!

There was somebody else on this board that was looking for a couple of cards from that issue. I believe Dick Williams was one of them.

Yes, it has info and a photo on the back. Here's an image. The way the back of the card is written, I think he probably actually wrote it (and it wasn't edited). Sounds so young.
