Has been an up and down week for the Rangers. Was fun seeing them blast Jester Felix Hernandez once again by pummeling him with 9 runs in 3 to 4 innings the other day and adding another L to his record setting number of career losses (20) against the good guys, but then they failed to show up against the Twins this weekend. The dreaded injury bug bit yet again, this time Elvis Andrus is out. It's just not meant for Texas to have a full squad of A teamers this year at any time. Hopefully the B team can get it done against the A's this week. A little less than a month left, and the Rangers have a one game lead, and have 6 yet to play against the A's. Would prefer just to play them the rest of the way, so as to not have to rely on any other team, but unfortunately, that's not the way it goes. The next 3 games could be a big swing for either team.

Always fun to still have a chance in September. They've come SO FAR over the last few years. Perhaps they can get it done this year, perhaps not. Time to play it out and see what happens.

Too bad they can't play Jester Felix Hernandez every game.

  • Those A's are pretty hot too. They put one heck of a beating on my Tigers last week and should have swept. You found out last season how troublesome that team of ZERO all-stars can be when they click! Ever since Melvin took over, they have been on another planet. Me, I have no horse in the race, but am looking forward to watching this series for just good baseball!!

I'm going on Wednesday, Darvish vs. Parker. Should be epic!

In the last 300 games of regular season baseball, Texas and Oakland are all square with 173 wins and 127 losses.

Rangers win game two to go up one this year. Rubber match in about 15 hours

The Halos are getting their sweet revenge (and the Astros are awful). Shaping up to be a BAD baseball weekend

It appears the Rangers are hell bent on ruining their season. At least at that, they are doing a good job.

What an awful baseball team they've become. Pathetic, pathetic, pathetic.

They may not even make the one and done game at this rate.

Oh well, will help me concentrate at school better at night image

It's going from bad to worse. Rangers rallying by scoring 5 in the bottom of the eighth to pull within 1 run and then take the umpire's hose from ump Andy Fletcher. Blown call ends Rangers half of the eighth, Rios OBVIOUSLY safe at third.

Part of the game and it happens, but it sucks when it does. Oh well, I remember several times this year when BS calls have gone the Rangers way. Guess it all equals out. Good teams overcome it, bad teams shrivel away and get bounced

Sure enough they shriveled up once again. Couldn't get it done in the 9th, left the tying run stranded yet again

Where's Felix Hernandez when you need him?

no problem my friend, they deserve it! If they play crappy baseball, they deserve crappy results

Rangers at least have shown some semblance of wanting to make the contrived one game wild card nonsense the last few days. Made it home in time last night to watch them peter one away though against Tampa. Reminiscent of their massive choke job in the World Series, they had the Rays down to their final strike on a couple occasions last night and failed miserably to complete the job

Nice bounce back win tonight. Hopefully the squad can hang in and get a boost from Nellie to win the one game wildcard. Then they should be alright and I like their chances in playoff baseball against anyone, especially Boston

Gotta get there first though. Pesky Cleveland needs to wake up and realize that hey, they are Cleveland, but unfortunately they have the major league whipping boys this weekend to keep them sleeping peacefully. Rangers get the Stros next week too so hopefully they won't be too mad after losing 4 straight to the Tribe. Rangers have owned Houston all season but I am worrid about the ugly stepchild of Texas baseball stepping up and taking their revenge on the Rangers by causing them issues next week after failing miserably against the Tribe

The true beauty in all of this is that even if Texas doesn't make it, I don't think the Yankees will either, and that heals all baseball wounds LOL

Congrats to the Oakland Athletics and their fans on their back to back AL West Championships. go get"em in the playoffs (unless of course by an act of God or any other deity or consortium of, the Rangers happen to back in and play y'all)

If the Rangers don't mike it I'll root for y'all or the Tigers, two CLASS teams IMO AND well deserving. Capable of beating the National League unlike the other AL playoff suspects

I would like to see the A's and their tiny payroll making a run at the World Series and celebrating in their sewage locker room while the Yankees and Dodgers stay home......... that is of course if the Cardinals do not win.

I know the sewage backups are bad in Oakland but something's in the water that makes these guys winners.

The A's are really amazing. Think of the consistency over the last 25 years. Most years having low payroll... but in particularly the last 10-15 years. Amazing!

2 more games to go and despite the squad's colossal choke job for most of Septenber, they still have a shot to make the consolation game. The Rangers hopes hinge on the Jays and Twins not being the buffoons they've been all year and on themselves in trying to dispatch Anaheim for two more games. I've got a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that Josh is going to do the Rangers in. If nothing else I hope it comes down to Sunday and isn't over tomorrow. My whole family is going Sunday sitting a handful of rows up from 3rd base. Even if the Rangers are out by then or choke it up again Sunday, we are going to enjoy it as Maven is doing the "Steal a Base" promotion. She will get to run in from the left field gate sometime between the 4th and 6th inning, and she gets to run all the way to 3rd base where she s oops it up and runs back to the left field gate. She has wanted to do it for a few years so we are very excited for her. She gets to take the base home if she makes it within 30 seconds (I've seen them stop the clock so she should be fine image ) and her run will be on the JumboTron. She's already told me she will be hanging it on the wall of her room. Since I haven't been able to take her the last month and a half due to school, I got her this instead. She tells me she is going to do a cartwheel on her run so I hope she doesn't fall and have to feel the scorn of 43000 fans lol. Will be fun for all of is but even more so if Rangers still have a chance then (a tip of the cap to Halo's management. Tomorrows game time has been moved to 11 am due to potential inclement weather. Supposedly both teams had to agree in order to start early and the Rangers wanted to and Halos agreed. That would keep the necessity of a Sunday doubleheader out of the equation I k ow Anaheim probably agreed due to travel plans back home, but they could have really made it a difficult situation on a team that basically has to win both games, kudos to the Angels)

Way to go Jays! Rangers took care of business already again today as well. One more win 2morrow and they will at least be guaranteed a play in game. If they can manage a couple more wins they can reload with Nellie coming back (he is eligible after 2morrow and they need a DH) and pound Boston into oblivion. Gotta get there first though. Tomorrow will be cool either way though. GO MAVEN!

Congratulations to the Cleveland Indians and their fans on clinching a berth in at least a playoff playin game. Great run this past week. incredibly frustrating to be a fan of a team right behind y'all and to watch the s ores each night and see them win, win, win, but great run nonetheless. I did almost wreck though when Giambi hit that pinch hit 2 run dinger with 2 outs walk off though LOL.

Just got home from the game. I didn't get there until the top of the 5th and apparently, unbeknownst to me, the game was already over. Congrats to David Price and the Tampa Rays for finally winning a game that meant something against the Rangers.

The bad part is I'm so busy these days, that this really doesn't even sting like the last 3 years. On the drive home rather than thinking I was disappointed, I was actually laughing to myself that now I won't have the temptation of the games taking me away from studying.

Hasta la vista Rangers on the 2013 season. 91 wins was not bad for a team that got basically no production most of the season from the LF, 1B, and DH spots, and had injury after injury after injury, as well as losing their 2nd best player for 50 games for doing something stupid. Could've been a lot worse. Bright days ahead. Hopefully Daniels will address the needs and take care of business in the off season.

    Time for bed image

Good luck A's and Tigers, hope one of y'all pull it out! Beat the hell out of the Rays, Indians and Red Sox.

    Mike
