It happens. I should have posted my post here instead of the other thread
It was just one game and they were having an off night but that had to be horrible to watch.
And although I only follow the Red Sox.....Texas seems to make the highlights and get talked about
alot on ESPN. Which tells me they need to be respected when playing against any other team.

Nice win tonight to even the series. Rangers win by one run, but the beauty of baseball is the margin of victory doesn't count for style points like in college football's nonsense. Another Ranger added to the medical ward though. Moreland left with a hurt hamstring. It's ridiculous the amount of injuries this team has had this year, but yet they still have one of the best records

A's win again as well, but Texas still maintains a 1.5 game lead

The Rangers now have a wafer thin lead over the A's in the West. It's going to be a fun four months of baseball, just like last year. :-)
  • PSASAPPSASAP Posts: 2,284 ✭✭✭
Wow, down 3-0 to Chris Sale and the Chicago White Sox, in the top of the sixth, Josh Donaldson hits a grand slam to give the A's a 4-3 lead. The lead holds up, and the A's are in first place. It's the second game in a row that the team has erased a 3-0 deficit and won.

LOL. Enjoy the run. Texas has sucked this week. The fill ins are playing like fill ins this week. Tonight's lineup didn't have Nellie, Beltre, Moreland or Kinsler. There is no excuse for all these hamstring injuries they are having. I think most high school coaches would at least have them adequatley stretched and limbered up

Poor, poor, and poor. this week's grade so far F

the Rangers have been the worst team in baseball the past six games. Have fallen to 3 games behind the A's (but still kicking the Halos rear image ). By Thursday night, the Rangers might be seven games out. The team is performing awful right now. Can't hit at all

A's are on their way to perhaps feasting in Texas the next four days..

Off topic, but I finally got my rookie card signed by Nolan Ryan. I sent it to his foundation in November and got it back last week. Definitely worth the wait though.

congrats. The Foundation provides a great service for the price. Just takes awhile. I wish I had known he was just signing there this soon. I have a Ryan/Ventura photo signed by Ventura that I need to send but he doesn't usually sign there during the season for the Foundation. It's usually offseason I thought. I was going to send it in a couple months. Now I bet I have a six month wait

Let's see your signed rookie. I'm always up for show and tell!

The A's have come and gone and the Rangers bowed their backs and rose from the depths of despair. They are once again within shouting distance of first place. Rangers take 3 of 4 and are now 1 game back

The brutality of the s hedule continues as the Rangers make their way to the Big white Arch in St. Louis followed by a date with the legends of the game, the Bronx Bombers

Hang in there Rangers, better times wil come

The A's LOB number was horrible today. Nellie Cruz stole extra bases from John Jaso today with a nice catch. The A's limp out of town, still clinging to a one game lead.

How sweep it is. Rangers back to having the best record in the AL and back in sole possession of first. The only bad things of the games against the Cards were having to listen to the national broadcasters for two games and having to see clips from the 2011 World Series meltdown debacle. Seriously Fox and ESPN, let it go, it was two years ago. Otherwise, a great Rangers weekend. Was nice to see them dispatch the supposed best team in baseball again, again, and again. Was also fun watching the Halos meltdown again earlier today as well, and watching Ibanez take BP on the A's

Next up, are the hated villainous Bronx Bombers. I can't even put into words how much I HATE the Yankees.

I thought I was alone in the national's media unending obsession with how 'great' the fans are in St. Louis, how they're the best people. that it's such a 'class' organization, etc. etc. As if there aren't great fans in other cities. It's lazy journalism and at this point does any baseball fan not know how the media feels about the Cardinals and their fans?

Nice work on crushing that premade storyline, though. I'm sure they were working up to build up the St. Louis overcoming all angle.

Had a great day at the ballpark today. Was brutally hot, so Maven and I were able to score two tickets on the front row down the 3rd base line for a good price. Was fun being up that close but being directly in the Texas heat at the hottest times in the afternoon was tough on this overweight, out of shape dad. We watched Darvish in command for three innings and then headed to a ballpark restaurant for 3.5 innings and then made it back to our seats in time to see Nathan seal the victory. Rangers win their 4th consecutive series (oakland, st louis, ny, and cincy) thats not too shabby of a stretch. After the game we got to run the bases. Well, maven ran and I kinda jogged behind image here she is on the far right. By the time she made it home, she had put about 120 ft of distance between herself and dad and those other two ladies

There really is no risk in it that I see right now. It's a minor league contract. If he can perform, the Rangers could use him, if he can't perform, no harm no foul. If he does make the bigs, I don't see him upsetting the "chemistry" any more than Hamilton used to do. Basically a no lose proposition for the Rangers.

got a sweet piece from one of the autograph regulars that I graph with at the ballpark. I think I'm going to have Jolene Jesse that paints the Michael Jordan and other stuff for Upper Deck, paint me a portrait and maybe an action shot of Yu Darvish on this for me as well. Darvish is a fairly easy autograph on items like balls and photos, but not so much on stuff like this.

Authentic Rangers Ballpark seat back, signed gorgeously in silver by Rangers ace Yu Darvish.

Yep, always disappointing to lose a game that she starts against the Rangers, but the one bright spot of last night is she didn't get the win either, she got a no decision.

On the other hand, the M's are taking the Rangers to the woodshed this series. Hopefully the Mariners will remember how to compete when they play the other AL West foes instead of just taking a whipping. There isn't a whole lot more frustrating to a Rangers fan, than to watch the Rangers pound the supposed "good" teams, but then watch them flail like losers against the lower rung teams. The game of baseball is maddening, but that's one of the draws of the game as well.

FINALLY!! The Rangers will have home field advantage for the World Series thanks to Nathan's 31st save of the season. Anxious for the next part of the season to start. Despite being decimated with injuries the first part of the season, with almost every regular starting pitcher having spent time on the DL, the squad has hung tough in the standings. The difference between the A's and Rangers right now has been the Houston Astros as the Rangers are only 7 and 2 against them, while the A's are 9 and 0 against the Stros. Rangers currently in place for the gimmicky wild card game but hopefully reinforcements will be on the way and they can retake their position of tops in the AL West. I don't follow the other teams so I've got no idea if Oakland has been bitten by the injury bug this year, but I can't imagine they've had it nearly as bad as Texas. Might be wrong though. Should be a fun conclusion to the season

I hope you are enjoying Joe Nathan as much as I did when he was a member of the penny pinching Minnesota Twins!

I hated to see him go, so from me to you "you're welcome".

Lots of ex-Minnesota players on the All-Star squad, hope that some of our "can't miss" (groan) prospects FINALLY come through (Sano, Buxton, Gibson, Deduno).

Nathan and Perkins in the bullpen a PERFECT lefty righty situation. If the team could get a lead into the late innings.

Rangers have been mired in mediocrity lately (well, they weren't even mediocre, they flat out sucked). The Rangers were teetering on the precipice of a cliff, about to fall over the edge, and then the Angels came to town. The Angels appear to be the Rangers penicillin. Rangers take the broom to CJ, Josh, and company, and are once again on the brink of being in playoff position. What a fun series. Maven and I were there last night. First time in club history that the Rangers have had 3 consecutive walk off homer games.

Rangers have moved to within 4 of Oakland, and have a weekend series against them. Not really important for the A's, but for the Rangers, in order to stay within shouting distance, they need to take care of business. Rangers appear to, at least on paper, have a much easier schedule then Oakland in August, but the game ain't played on paper. Rangers are within 1/2 game of Cleveland (no doubt in my mind that Cleveland wakes up and fades off into oblivion) for the final wild card spot, and tied with Baltimore (the ex-Rangers, and the team that the Rangers need to keep a handle on).

Hopefully if Nellie gets suspended in the next couple of days, he can tie it up in appeals or in the courts until the season is done.

A well earned broom for the Angels

Tigers and Rangers both 3-0 after the Selig imposed suspensions. Props to both teams for not letting it have a huge impact yet. Keep up the winning and none of that other nonsense will matter.

My gosh, the Angels are AWFUL. The catchers can't catch, the pitchers can't pitch, the closer can't close. I kind of feel bad for Trout, but then I realize he's an Angel, and I lose that compassion. I kind of feel bad for their fans but then I realize they have some decent teams out there to cheer for as well, including the quality A's and the Dodgers. I think there was a seven inning span over two games of the recently completed series, where the Rangers stole 12 bases on them, LOL. Additionally, Texas scored from second on a ball hit to the infield, took two bases on one wild pitch, and generally made Halo Stadium their personal playground.

Baseball is such a funny game, that the Astros could rise up and send the Rangers right back down in the standings this upcoming weekend, but in the interim, another well deserved broom for the Angels, the second consecutive series the Rangers have swept them image

Man it's just so hard to watch lately.

I've been offered seats right behind the Rangers (visitors) dugout twice this week and just couldn't stomach going to these games. As far as cheering for other teams, I think we (Angel fans) generally dislike the A's and Dodgers as much as we dislike the Rangers. image We give the Padres a pass, well because they are the Padres.

Good luck to the Rangers, should be interesting to see who finish on top in the AL West between Oakland and Texas.

Yeah, doesn't seem like the suspensions have hurt. Didn't hurt the Giants last season even when they could have had Melky back in time. As for the Angels, I can't figure out how a team with so much talent is playing this terrible. The only team they can beat is the Tigers which they had no problem sweeping the season series. The team they were supposed to be only showed up against us!! This will be an interesting September/October for sure!!

To my deep dish pizza eating Chicago (or fans of Chicago) friends,

Is Alex Rios any good? I've heard he's disruptive and lazy. Does he play hard? Does he seem to create a bad atmosphere in the clubhouse? Do his old teammates publicly like him?

The Rangers picked him up today. Not sure how I feel about it yet (as if it matters, LOL) I guess he's supposed to be Nellie's replacement. I guess time will tell as to if he disrupts the so called "chemistry" (although Hamiilton in his last month here did a pretty good job of that, they seem to have recovered). One thing I like about the Rangers, is their players appear motivated to play, and seem to enjoy doing so. Makes it fun to watch. I sure hope they don't get a lazy bum that wears off on the others. .

Got through with my homework early, grilled up some rib eyes, NY strip steaks, and fillets (sp?), and dropped back onto the couch to watch the Rangers hand Queen Felix his 19th career loss against the Rangers. Texas just drubbed Felix Hernandez again. Among his career stats, my favorite of his is that he is the losingest pitcher in Rangers foes history.

Texas has been playing well lately. Just a few weeks ago it seems, they were 6 games behind Oakland and also out of the potential wildcard spots, and with a looming suspension of Nellie, it didn't look like this season had much potential left. What a difference a few weeks can make.

I can have up to 7 absences from each class in law school per semester, and I won't use ANY unless an accident or something else pops up, but if the Rangers make the playoffs and World Series again, I might have to play hookey for one or two if a deciding game is on that night (yep, I have my priorities straight, LOL)

Has been a fun few weeks seeing the Rangers climb from the depths of despair (6 games behind the A's) to back up the rungs to best in the American League once again (tied with Detroit).

At this rate, will be interesting to see if they welcome Nellie back to the lineup for the playoffs or not. Team has gotten away from their power element and have become the running Rangers again. As long as they keep winning, equally as fun to watch IMO

I'm ready tz sit down and watch a game this weekend. So far this week, ive only gotten to hear a portion of the game on the radio while driving home from school. Suffering from Rangers withdrawal image
