Kudos to boardmember Reggie Cleveland, got wrestling card off wantlist after over a decade of lookin

So one of the wrestling cards that had eluded me was a 1928/9 Tabacalera La Morena Joe Stecher. I had cards of Strangler Lewis, Stanislaus Zbyszko, and Hans Steinke as only four wrestlers are in the set from El Salvador. I had been sniped on the Joe Stecher twice and I never saw it again. In the Legendary Auction my wrestling card was in the lot of 40 boxers. I placed a bid of a $1000 plus for the lot but it went for $5000 plus. I put out a message on net54 and here saying if anyone knew who won the lot to contact me as I just wanted the one card. Boardmember ReggieCleveland asked me for my iformation and passed it on to the winner of the auction house auction and the winner contacted me last week. We were throwing around ideas on how much to assess in value for the card when I mentioned that I had two spares of other La Morena wrestling cards that I bought in hopes of using them in trade for the Joe Stecher I needed. I then made a cash offer for the card and then made an additional offer of wrestling cards from La Morena of Zbyszko PSA 4 and SGC 70 (5.5) Steinke for this Stecher that I have not seen for a decade! The final determination was no cash but a straight out trade and now I am the owner of this Joe Stecher. Perserverance my friend, as Joe Stecher finally made it home to the Wrestling Card King! I don't know how many of these I can go through but that was a lot of work!!!

Glad it ended up working out for you. Always good to see cards find a proper home.

Now you just need to get all the Angola versions.

Reggie is one of the best guys you will meet anywhere, in or out of the hobby.
Last year I was in way over my head on a project technically, and he showed up with a carload of gear to get me thru it. Spent a day and a half and tore up my check.
Just don't let him chose the beer- he falls way short in that department.
    Congrats on finishing the set!

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

What Griffins is failing to mention is that day was a small attempt at me paying back the seemingly neverending debt I owe to him for helping me out on numerous occasions.

And what kind of red blooded American doesn't like Miller High Life?

I thought you were going to say Old Milwaukee or Pabst Blue Ribbon. image

Not surprised at all as Reggie is a great guy even if he has questionable taste in beer.

Glad you were able to seal the deal Rob and give that card a great home.

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

What's it say about him on the back? Have you done the translation yet?

    reggie-

I picked up two of the Angola cards and I got the Stecher and the Zbysko so that means that I still need to get the Strangler Lewis and the Hans Steinke.

Wow, nice work! The Angola are even tougher than the La Morena. When it rains, it pours. Hopefully your luck carries over and you find those other two soon.
