  • I would rather put the 50k towards one of the Mantle cards that used to reside inside the box.

Yeah, that's a great item, but 50k for an empty box? Even if I were a billionaire, I couldn't see myself buying that for 50k.

That's a pretty silly price but should drive some traffic toward their site, which is probably the idea. Empty 1952 Topps wax boxes normally sell for less than $1,000 (one sold last month for around $700) and, in my opinion, are better display pieces. $50K would get you 4-6 sealed wax packs.

Always buying 1971 OPC Baseball packs.

And if you are charging $50,000.00 for an item, at least get SY Berger's name right! LOL

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

What's next on the auction block, the original barge that dumped cards into the sea?
  • Those kinds of cases have come up for sale over the years...in mastro auctions or maybe heritage. I don't know if a 52 case has come up for sale....but $50 k? Empty boxes only sell for a fraction of that.
