Finally had to clean my Peso's

tneigtneig Posts: 1,505 ✭✭✭
I have a bunch of 1968 Olympic peso's in the condom wrappers and I finally had to get them
out of that sticky mess and clean them off in coin dip. Just a quick dip cleaned the sticky plastic
residue and refreshed the shine and go rid of any toning or marks. I also rinse well in a small drop
of soap and rinse well with hot water, and let dry for a day. I could have acetoned, but that is nasty
smelling and if I had to clean to get off the goo, figured I may as well refresh them a bit. All very nice now.
Not as nice as the original packaging to some, but they look nice now. I don't even know their value?

The 1968 25 peso, like this one?

    These are .5208 ounce.

Our host lists the value at $15.17 currently. Remember Coinflation shows Mexican and Canadian coins, and will hopefully show other countries soon, too.

Knowing/seeing tneig's buying habits I'd say he stumbled on a deal on a stack of them and didn't pass them up....just like a good stacker does!

Interestingly, I did record them back in March 2012, a year ago, when I first started recording entries, but no record of the price, just a purchase of 18.
1 in a silver round album, 2 as presents to the Spanish side of the family for the kids (though I think the parents got to them and the sac's first), and 1 somewhere?
I've got a Plata Pura Onsa or two, and 2 navidas from my notes, but that's the extent of my knowledge on these items. I tried to experiment with everything.

Thinking I put did a forum entry, and I'll try to go back and find it. When the price goes up, I'll sell some, to exchange towards eagles when the price goes down again.

Nice enough to keep a few for my pleasure collection.

Raised an eyebrow here too, was it a purchase or payment went through my head before the jargon translation did.image
