Is everyone who received DS packs just keeping them long-term instead of ripping? Was hoping to see more cards by now.. Good luck to remaining rippers.
<< <i>Why did the not stamp the checklists in DS? >>
Easily one of the most frustrating aspects of the set. I don't have a good answer as to why they didn't. >>
I collect checklists and parallel are such B-E-A-UTIFUL things. How cool would it be if they did a retro reprint set of the checklists with the foil stamp and original stock. inserted like 4 per case. That would make my day.

So are there any characteristics distinguishing the checklist from this set and the regular plain old Topps checklists? >>
no >>
Well, there must be, because PSA grades them as DS. I don't know what the difference is, maybe some numbering differences or something, but there must be some difference.

There are no differences whatsoever to the card. It is exactly like the base '91 Topps checklist- it just came out of a Desert Shield box. That's it.

Were the wrappers from 1991 of the wax kind? The recent box I opened (not desert shield) was like a cellophane wrapper. But I am seeing this item on eBay that looks like its a wax wrapper.
Definitely no sense in keeping those packs sealed. It is probable that BBCE didn't mark them as DS since the holder could potentially be compromised. Then it is Steve's name on the line should it be sold and the buyer gets a regular 1991 pack.
Have fun, rip those things! You may even recoup your money!
Seriously, you could have packing slips and photos of you shaking the UPS guy's hand and I still wouldn't believe there's a Desert Shield pack in those holders once it came time to sell!
