Results are in for undated 1916 SLQ find in scrap silver

And its the real deal!!!! Graded an AG3.
I thought it would grade a G-4. Or maybe no matter how good the rest of the coin looks, if there is no date they can't grade it higher??

<< <i>you can see enough of the 6 on that one that I wouldn't consider it "undated" as the only part of the date that matters is there. nice find and I would have graded it G4!!!
True, but a 1926 does exist.

Yeah, but even still, it is obvious it is a 1916 by more than just the hair. For example, if one did not know the different between the hair and other elements on the obverse, all they would have to do is look on the reverse to see if the stars are there. In this coin, see an obvious 6 on the obverse, flip over and see no stars, results in a YIPPEEEEE!!!

Sorry to correct you rampage, but I believe that the 1917 type 1 also has no stars on the reverse. In the posters case I think that the 6 is evident so yes time to celebrate.I have a few of these(without an obvious 6) that I take out every so often to look at and hope that just maybe it is the 1916.

No, Rampage is right, if you see a 6 on the obverse, flip it over, and there is no stars, you have a 1916. Read his post again, and the ones prior to it. Context, my friend... >>
And you really don't even need to clearly identify the last digit as a 6. You just need to be able to be sure it's not a 7.

Not with boobies showing.
My icon IS my coin. It is a gem 1949 FBL Franklin.
removed the stars, the 1926 eagle is in a higher position. As already noted, the 1926 has
the date recessed in the plinth.
Congratulations on an unbelievable find! This is at least a $3000 coin!
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
<< <i>That has more of a date than most junk box 1916 SLQs I see, but needs more to grade G4. >>
That's a heckuva nice cherrypick! Wow!
You can actually SEE part of the date!
I think this is worthy of the smiley mosaic:

<< <i>Just to be clear, I did not cherrypick this coin. I found it in a $1,000 bag of scrap silver. >>
Still that's a great find!

In fact it looks just as good as the Good-6 they have:

Thanks for the link. Checking my 90% tonight
<< <i>Use those pics as a reference and send the coin in for reconsideration as it does have a large value jump for the grad and fantastic find by the way. >>
How do i use the pictures as a reference on a reconsideration? Do i print as send this along with my submission? Will they even look at it?

where is the reverse of the coin you are comparing it to?
