I picked this up at the show today- I've never seen anything like it. Anyone know what or who 'Dallas Day' was?

Beats me! But I'm a California kid....I have never seen this on a buffalo nickel, until now.
The bitterness of "Poor Quality" is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

  • I have nothing to base this on but my gut.

Many expos had days associated with different cities throughout their duration. The Columbian Expo of 1892/3 had many, and it is known that there was a "Cubs" day at the PPIE. It is also known that James Earle Frasier unvailed his "end of the trail" at the PPIE. Remember that Fraiser's most recent work up until that time was the Buffalo nickel.

So here's mt thought. To honor "Dallas Day" at the PPIE, and also Frasier's new sculpture, perhaps some of his nickels were stamped like this example. Nothing to base it on other than conjecture.

PS. The date is early enough and there are badges for "closing day" with Frasier's new "End of the Trail" potrayed on it.

Thank you for this- it gives me something to go on. A Google search returned all kinds of Dallas day camps and Dallas day spas, so this is much better!
