Schmidt Rookie - What would it grade?

Pretty nice card, but am not sure about the bottom edge. At first I thought it was a thumbtack hole, but now I am not sure - as there is edge damage on both front/back -- but not a hole... what do you think?

5.5-6 that chip on the bottom, who knows really. They Might say 4. But to me Id say 6.

That is a VERY rough right side - I'm going to have to go with a 4. 5 if your lucky.

Pretty natural rough cut, do you think they'd whack it that hard?

I'm wondering if that little notch on the bottom is due to insect damage. I had some 75 mini's when I was a kid that looked like that from some sort of bug.

    I'm thinking a 4 on this one.

I'd go with 4 or 5 depending on whether the grader in a good mood or not.

Now you just need a buyer that is looking to buy the holder and not the card. image

Seriously, that card wasn't a 7 without the bullet hole.

He's putting us on. That card isn't a 7 at BCCG, much less PSA

    Seriously, what was it?

The primary reason for my EX 5 guess was the chip on the edge but I'm guessing it looks worse blown up to 10x its normal size. As mentioned here before, graders do not typically use maginification when grading, so the chip must not have been as much of a flaw as we think after looking at the huge scans. NM 7 is definitely a generous grade, but I could certainly see this card in an EX-MT 6 holder.

I thought it was a 6 at first too, as the rough edge looks much more "normal" in person. I started the thread because it really is a fairly attractive card in person, but blown up on a scan it is kind of an Ugly Betty.

Had a few that could have graded higher in this sub, so I'll take the gift.

Well, here it is... looks marginally better in the slab:

Just got in another Schmidt, and it looks like a distant cousin of this one -- rough edge, divot, centered high, etc... any thoughts on Ugly Betty II?

Heh, heh. Lucky 7 is right.

I sent this one in with the ugly 7 -- much nicer card, but no love for the 8 (this is not the raw one pictured above):
