Desperately Seeking Unopened Product

I am getting so desperate for unopened product I bought three boxes of 1990 Score baseball for $25.00 shipped. Anyone else checking BBCE several times daily?

Comments

  • Wow that is desperate! Can't say that would solve any cravings.

It's out there if you are willing to spend, take some risk and look outside BBCE to Ebay and auction houses.
  • LOL. I would have gone to a local shop and bought some junk wax to save on shipping. I picked up some 88 and 89 Fleer for $10 a box. I will probably go back to get more. I personally love ripping those boxes, especially at those prices!!
  • I've always liked that Bo Jackson football/baseball card plus the Thomas rookie. I've searched for some good product outside BBCE and I don't mind paying the price but I'm weary of trusting ebay or some other dealers on unopened.
  • So you remove all these cards from wax and shuffle 99% of them into boxes. More a moving exercise then anything lol. Your car is parked outside as these take over the garage :-)

Theirs a unopened 73 baseball wax box from Fritsch that Probstein has on auction. Also Probstein has a 79 baseball cello box and a GAI graded 80 baeball box. Probstein has had some good unopened product lately. I would trust that source as much as BBCE. Anybody disagree? Also Theirs 77,78,and 79 baseball wax boxes on auction from different seller with good feedback ratings. PWCC had some nice 77 and 78 football wax boxes that were auctioned on February 9th. I think the product is out there but i don't understand why everybody is so weary.

Yes. Probstein has had faked unopened in his auctions. I also don't think I'd be bidding in an open auction. I'd rather crap my pants ten minutes into a cross-country flight than bid in a Probstein auction.
  • I still enjoy ripping 1988/89 Topps here and there. Great players. I have no intention of sending any in for grading. Just pure simple nostalgic enjoyment when I'm exteremely bored. I wouldnt however purchase online because once the shipping cost factor in, its not worth it imo.

Does Probstein guarantee the authenticity of the product? As far as I can tell he simply lists everything people consign with him. Even on the 73 box does it mean Probstein purchased it directly or his consignor? How do you know the consignor did not tamper with the packs or sequence them and replace those with a "good" sequence with other packs? You can certainly get great packs and boxes from non-BBCE sources. I have done it. However I have also bought resealed wax boxes, resealed packs, sequenced boxes, etc from non-BBCE sources. If you know what you are looking for when looking for resealed packs (wax, cello, rack) then you can take the gamble. It can be a hassle to get your money back though when you end up purchasing something that was no good. With BBCE you know they will stand behind their product and the few times they get it wrong they make things right. Can the same be said for Probstein or any other random ebay seller or auction house?

    Post of the day.
I'm building a 1968 and a 1970 Topps set. I have lots of 1970s and 1960s to offer in trade.
  • I have a confession to make. I throw away all my commons and minor stars that are 4 years old or older !!

I do that for shiny new stuff unless I am set building. But if I am just ripping for fun or ripping for 10's, then I will throw away a lot of stuff.

Robb, I agree with you. BBCE is not the only place you can get authentic un-opened but you you need to be careful, understand who you are buying from and educate yourself. Concerning the 73 box, would Steve list this box and NOT tell you what series it is from? The answer would be no. Buying from someone you CAN trust and will make things right when a mistake is made is invaluable.
