These internet petitions have no impact whatsoever. Only real petitions, signed by voters and verifiable, in the districts they reside within, presented officially to elected officials carry any weight worth mentioning. Cheers, RickO

No one likes taxes, but not sure why internet sellers should get a major cost advantage over B & M or any other form of retailing that is required to collect taxes.

Many states already have "use taxes" where, in theory, they can collect from their in-state purchasers from out-of-state sellers. Enforcement of such laws against individuals is difficult and is often perceived as harassment.

It is a losing battle. Amazon has caved in and so has Dell.

Better to level the playing field for all retailers.

Isn't this designed to facilitate collecting a tax that is already due? The so-called "Internet Tax" is merely shifting the collection of a tax the buyer should already be paying as a use tax to the out of state seller as a sales tax. The real battle for coin collectors and dealers is to work on maintaining, expanding, or obtaining state sales tax exemptions in the 50 states, and DC.

Is this forcing small businesses to become unpaid tax collectors for the various states and cities that have sales taxes? With all the states and cities that have sales taxes, wouldn't businesses have to hire additional employees to administer this mess---both collecting and sending payments to all the states and cities that collect these taxes?

Small (and large) businesses are already the tax collectors for state, local and federal governments. Sales taxes, income taxes, excise taxes, FICA, etc., etc.

I was talking about all the other states and cities that they don't reside in.
