Anyone have info on "Gold Standard Corporation" pieces?

Have a client with what appears to be a 1 oz gold "Gold Standard Unit" medal made by Conrad Braun in the late 1970s/early 1980s. The story I dug up sounds very much like the NORFED dollars story.

Anyone here have more info on them? The link mentions that these are listed in the Krause Unusual Coins of the World book. If you could post info (especially specifications) on the 1979 "research institute" coin it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Cute collectible, but buy it for a percent or two back of melt, because you will probably end up burning it.
The chiefacoins link is as good as anything you'll find. Conrad was quite the nefarious character.
Point of interest is Braun commissioned Engelhard to produce the 10oz poured, 10oz pressed and 1oz pressed bars.
You'll recognize Engelhard character in 10oz poured more than the pressed counterparts:
Very cool bar there, dolomite!
