Cert Numbers

I am looking on a dealers site at a (Mercury 10¢, 1941, 10¢, PR66 , PCGS/CAC ). The dealer has some pics of the coin. I would like to look up the coin in coinfacts to see if maybe I could find more pics or info on this coin.

Would it be improper to ask the dealer for the cert number so I can look it up? Is this like if I asked you for your social security number and cert numbers are private to the owner?

They have cert numbers for a reason. If the dealer pushed back it would be a red flag.

if you ask me it is improper to NOT show the cert numbers.

i won't buy from anyone or any site that blocks/doesn't provide the certs and also those whom use scans as poor substitutes for images

If you are interested then you should ask politely. Every coin and piece of currency on my site has the cert number listed below the coin and this number is hotlinked directly to the TPG database as well as to CAC, where applicable. It makes things much more convenient for potential clients.

I see no good reason why a dealer would not show the cert number right up front. I have a problem with dealers that would have me ask for the cert number, so I never ask but just pass on by.
