But parody aside, this is just so wrong! Apologies if you are the collector paying this much for these:

"Buried"?!
Toned coins should never go for more than melt
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
I think they are cool, and don't look like nuclear juice, like so many of the Photoshop type Morgans posted on a regular basis.
People pay crazy money for toning - seems cheap to me.
<< <i>Got me excited - thought it was a sample or Doily.

Got your heart rate up huh?
Ya, go figure, you wouldn't catch me paying those kind of prices for toners

Why would you ever say something like this? "Buried"? Not a chance. They just liked the toning. Is it not okay for people to pay extra for a nicely toned coin? We see it happen all the time on here and at major auctions.. if you think this is anywhere near "buried" for what some people buy, i invite you to follow one of Heritage's big auctions and see what some of those Morgan Dollar toners go for.. I mean.. like 10-15x value sometimes..
I lkie them

<< <i>Price doesn't seem out of line by any means. If I bought them, I'd crack them out and put them in a PCGS 2-Coin holder, toned side up. >>
Wouldn't it be easier (and cheaper) to simply send them in and have PCGS reholder in the requested slab?
The toning could also be described as "crusty". My roll had end coins that were darker on the exposed sides, but all of the middle coins had pretty nice color progression on both the obverse and the reverse. Several of the coins had the same strike doubling on the reverse. Russ was skeptical about the toning, but after he inspected one of them and sent it to PCGS he changed his opinion. I sent Lucy Bop one of them, and she remained skeptical. I ended up having 4 of them certified by PCGS and the rest remain raw. I've sold a few of them raw, just for fun.
At the time, I was buying OBW rolls of 90% silver dimes, quarters and halves because I felt that the premiums were nominal and I was intrigued with the idea of buying toners in the wild. I shopped ebay photos for toned end coins and found quite a few nice buys. I bought a lot of 5 nice Roosie rolls from a guy in Brooklyn, and the end toners were so nice that I immediately contacted him and bought the rest of his rolls. I bought some Washington Quarter rolls as well, but the toning was not good. It was crusty and black, so I refrained from buying more of them, but they had been stored in the same SDB as the dimes. Maybe they were sitting on the bottom and had more humidity, or something.
I also ended up buying a bag of halves from Tulving around that time, and he shipped it to me in 2 separate half-bags. One of those bags was $500 in Unc 1964 Kennedys. I went through all of them, and I found a few that had fairly nice, light pastel toning similar to the type of toning in these Teletrade auctions. Until then, I was skeptical about bag-toned Morgans but I suppose it could happen.
I like toners, and sometimes the colors can be quite enticing, especially under magnification. Interesting stuff.
I knew it would happen.
To the OP: This obviously isn't an area you collect, so who are you to judge that people (the bidder + under bidder) are paying "too much" for these coins? One could argue that people pay too much for any particular coin, variety, any other sort of collectible, sports tickets......
