First time half roll hunting

Ok so after reading the stories of finding free money at the bank in the form of 40% halfs, I decided to try for myself. Well for the past three weeks Ive traded In a total of $110 in paper for halfs. ive scored 3 40% silvers. As you can guess im hooked and every friday will get 50 bucks worth from now on.

    You did well. I scored one 90% and one 40% in the very first roll I got... but many hundreds of dollars later, I haven't scored anything other than dirty fingers. Hope your luck holds out longer than mine did. image

    I received a solid 90% silver roll of halves from a bank and found 2 1955's. I saved the '55's and spent the rest.

    This was in 1963, I should have saved them all! image

    Use two banks, one for pickup, one for deposit.

    I usually get 2 or 3 40% halfs per $100, so you are scoring about right.
    Once in a blue moon I get a 90% Kennedy half.

    I have never found silver in half rolls..... tried and tried....likely a couple thousand dollars worth....but getting the itch to try again ....Cheers, RickO

    I do use 2 banks. The one I get them at only has 3 branches and the other one I was told that someone comes in and buys all that they have so he will get all the ones Ive looked through. lol

    Yep, 2 banks required, and not just for half roll hunting either image

    Lots of fun with our 4 kids, from about 2003-2007, we average 1 40% half per 30 Clad halves, so not bad, and let the kids fill up Whitmans with nice UNC dates. We found them all but iirc, the 82 and 87 dates were tough, though I did find a gemmy 87D. Very few 90%, maybe 10 total. We would spend some for fun, to watch the Chic Fil A cashier go ask if their manager if legit, and re-roll most of them and deposit at lesser bank B.

    One got the metal detecting itch from these searches, one asks from time to time if we can get some to search and the other 2 are on to bigger and better things in life... but maybe the seeds will germinate when they get older.
    Do your best to avoid circular arguments, as it will help you reason better, because better reasoning is often a result of avoiding circular arguments.
