1892 Columbian Medal? - Any information on this?

I found this medal - it is an 1892 Medal with only a Liberty head and the date shown on the obverse and E Pluribus Unum on the reverse.

The design looks to be reminiscent of the Columbian World's Fair but I have not been able to find this particular medal listed anywhere.

The obverse "Liberty Head" design is that of Wilhelm Mayer of Stuttgart, Germany. Used most prominently on 35mm Eglit-51/HK-221(Gilt bronze) and SoCalled Dollars HK-220/220a(Bronze hi/low relief), and HK-222/222a(Aluminum hi/lo relief).
The reverse is unreported in Hibler-Kappen, but may be in Eglit. Try a PM to tmot99 - he is an advanced collector/researcher of WCE exonumia.

What is the diameter of the medal? It may be too small to qualify as a so-called dollar.

It is in a half dollar holder and it fits with about 5mm room to spare.

I am at work so I don't have the exact diameter.

This is a hanging medal that was on a watch fob. It is 28.5mm.

I don't see evidence of any mount removal or something to that effect. Could it have been purchased separately - before being made into a watch fob?
