Some very nice French and British proof lots on this auction such as this one or one of ajaan's VIP proof half pennies, and a sweet 1799 PCGS PR66CAM Gilt 1/4d, but the starting prices seem rather high.
<< <i>I agree, the starting bids are very high. >>
That's because they shifted to (and trumpeted the heck out of) "No more reserves!!"
So now they just start at what would have been the reserve... meaning that their high level of unsolds is now visible for everyone to see at the get go.
Of 77 foreign lots I tracked since Dec 3rd 7 sold which makes for 9% sell through. At that rate I cannot be a seller (sell too little or too low; get charged hefty shipping) or a buyer (priced too high) on there. It'll also destroy their price history tool. The automated pop tool also does not seem to work for foreign coins, maybe they fixed it, but I'm not interested enough any more to even check. Too bad, used to be good.

NOT a SMALL DATE , or more accurately "HALF PENNY NUMERALS"
Upon further study, I believe it might be the same coin recently sold at the Stacks/Bower auction which had a mis-attributed AU50 example..... Sold for $1528 with BP
All 1862 pennies have NO signature on the reverse, There are 3 known obverse varieties, 2 have the signature (and are extremely rare) and one, the most common, which is THIS specimen, does not....
