Mexican Gold

What are the opinions here for stacking a little Mexican gold?

Price
Fake gold concerns
Easily sold when time arrives

Just wondering?

I love the dos peso coins ,but they are so small they don't stack very well though. Heap is a better word.

They are useful for self defense also. Carry a small hand full and throw them into the eyes of your opponent to blind them so you can escape a sticky situationimage

Mexican gold coins are very attractive. I would just buy PCGS slabbed to be on safe sideimage

There are already too many other options for me, and adding Mexican bullion to the mix would only make it worse.

If you're worried about SHTF, stay with American gold eagles and fractions.

If you're more interested in buying gold, they're pretty liquid. Just remember they're not made in fractions of an ounce.

The first gold coin I ever bought was a Mexican Dos Pesos back in the early 70's so I have an long relationship with them and like them but if buying for SHTF I would go with fractional Onzas or Libertads. If buying for SHTF I consider AGEs & Maple Leafs more desireable but those Libertads are pretty no doubt about it.

I always thought that a neat way to buy gold bullion would be to form a type collection of foreign gold coins. There are literally hundreds of foreign gold coins that can be bought at a small premium over melt. A Mexican gold type set would be neat. I especially like the 20P with the Aztec callendar and the 50P gold coin which is very impressive in size and is very attractive.

Mexican coins are known everywhere, they are a great way to get gold at a fair premium.
The 20 Pesos together with the 50 Pesos are my favorites. The Gold Onza are nice as well.
I like the Libertads too but they are more likely to get red spots.

I have never heard of fake Mexican gold coins... yet. Doesn't mean they dont exist though. I mainly stack AGEs due to the liquidity, however I also have a few dos pesos, and this one which is my favorite gold coin out of all the ones I have.

I'm amassing little gold and silver armies for a Risk board, Mexican gold protects from the SA invasion just fine.

No liquidity problems around here at all.
