Lodging at the Baltimore Coin Show.

I'll be going to the March Baltimore Coin Show. I've never been there before and was wondering if anybody would recommend some lodging places within easy walking distance of the convention center. Thank you!

The Convention Center has dozens of hotels within a few blocks of it and the Whitman website lists several hotels as show hotels for each event. These show hotels are either connected via walkway to the Convention Center or are only a block or two away. Off the top of my head there are the Hilton, Sheraton, Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, Days Inn and others.

Skip the hotel, sleep in an alley... more money to spend on coins!

I like this idea, although I live an hour away so no alley for me!

  • Priceline works great for Baltimore. Name your own price in the "Inner Harbor" area. I have never been far away, and never pay much, either.

Baltimore hotels around the convention center are notoriously expensive. The Hilton and Sheraton are connected. The Holiday Inn, Hyatt, Days Inn and Marriott Inner Harbor are within a block or two. Several others like the Renaissance are a short walk away.

I've used PriceLine a few times and each time I was offered
the Lord Baltimore - its a decent place - not too far a walk from
the convention center - but - if you can get a room at The Days Inn,
its immediately across the street from the Convention Center.

If you're on an expense account - well, then opt for the Marriott.

I always liked the Holiday Inn so long as you ended up in the "old building." The rooms are large and have been refurbished nicely. The rooms are smaller in the new section, and seems like more noisy kids groups end up there.

During the sports seasons rooms are not as easy as you might think. A lot of the hotels do sell out when the Ravens or Orioles are playing.

I stay about 8 miles out side of the inner harbor right off the beltway.
That's like 7 or 8 mins. drive time. only have to pay those outragious parking fees at the show.

If you do not mind paying a bit more for the nightly cost, I would highly recommend the Sheraton which is right across the street from the side entrance to where the convention is held in the convention center and is also connected by an outdoor walkway above street level. If you dont want to pay a premium, the Days Inn would be my choice. It is less than a 4 minute walk to the front doors of the convention center, and this hotel can often be had for $100-120 a night if booked early.

I was informed by a regular dealer today that he has secured lodging at The Renaissance for under $100/night through Priceline.com.

I go for Days Inn first, if they don't have a good deal going then Priceline works pretty well.

Sometimes Priceline can be your best friend or worst enemy.
The Days Inn is usually a good deal if you don't want to roll the dice with unknown.

Although I've never successfully used Priceline myself, Baltimore is a city where several of our clients swear by them and they get super low rates. Sometimes $80 a night for some of the nicer properties around the convention center.
