In my opinion, the Paige looks real. However, there are some really good fakes out there. If Hardcore Pawn guarantees it, then I would get it graded asap.
  • I emailed them and they said if it was sent to psa/bgs and it was deemed to be a fake they would refund the purchase price.

They don't like SGC either! imageimage

  • I gotta say their neg feedback is hillarious. Its almost exactly like the show where they try to always do the right thing, but some(most) customers can't be pleased under any circumstances. It does seem like they won't put up with bs though.......

I think they cost themselves a decent amount of money by not having it graded or authenticated.

  • I like the EX Borque rookie that they have up for sale:

Still, if graded, this card could bring $200-$400.
  • The only reason not to grade that card.... is if you are afraid it will come back a fake.

I don't like the way the corners look on the back. It makes it look like a modern sandwiched together reprint. That along with the way the front looks in the picture definitely requires a better scan before bidding. Low quality pictures could cause the effects seen. If a higher quality scan is provided it would easily clear things up.

strange coloring on the corners are the only red flag IMO, but the image/card stock is really authentic looking

    "way too clean" lol
the card looks authentic and not clean either (about a PSA-2/3)
    and ...
"The only reason not to grade that card....is if you are afraid it will come back a fake." WRONG! it IS because a true baseball card collector (preslab) could care less about value, plastic slab hype, unlike all these $$ hungry pseudo-collector newbies...

PS if you want a real Satchel Paige rookie for 1/50th of the price, buy the 1949 Exhibit card... every single Exhibit Supply Co. card of Paige was made/issued ONLY in 1949
  • wonder if people are thinking its a fake and that why bidding has really slowed in the past few days on this

It's unfortunate but that sort of listing will end up selling to a very inexperienced collector or dealer who scours Ebay thinking they can get huge scores on cards that everyone else will miss. The worst thing about buyers like this is many won't have a clue as to what they just bought, or how to spot a fake, and won't find out until they show off their card to another collector. I hope it works out well for the buyer.

I would not count on that. Look at their item description:

    *AS- IS*

All sports cards are sold AS IS. We are not professional graders and we will not venture any guess as to the grade or condition of a card. All we can do is provide the pictures. Please look over the pictures provided very carefully and make a decision for yourself. If you want additional pictures to make the decision please ask. All sports memorabilia sales are final UNLESS the package is damaged during shipping, in which case contact us as all packages have insurance so we can take the proper steps to file the insurance claim.

ALL AS IS items are sold AS IS

    STAY HEALTHY!

  • They might have some disclosure in their listings, but if a buyer makes a claim, chances are they will win and a refund will be issued. It's not like the eBay of old where they limited the restitution too $250. Thieves like this can no longer get away with this.
I'm building a 1968 and a 1970 Topps set. I have lots of 1970s and 1960s to offer in trade.

the "As Is" note is only on condition of card, not authenticity

its a good "As Is" note IMO, because many newbies are driven by $$ and slabs and will get pissed if they send it in to a 3rd party grader and it comes back a 3-4 yet the seller says its in Excellent condition...
