    Oddly enough the 1860-O Seated dollar might be scarcer in Fine-12, the grade of that piece, than Mint State. Back in the early 1960s the Treasury department pulled this date and a group of 1859-O dollars out of its vaults in AU and Mint State. The population reports reflect its hoard status.
    Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    That's a nice coin and I think many of us would have been quite happy to buy that, too.

    Love the surfaces of that coin Vern. Not a series I know much about, but doesn't take a rocket scientist to know those surfaces are choice. Fabulous looker

    Indeed, and given how coins tended to stay in the region they were struck then you have to wonder what history that coin could have been in.
