Wheat Cent roll searching find

ksammutksammut Posts: 1,076 ✭✭✭
My son and I went to the bank of Friday to purchase cent rolls to search. The teller had 13 hand-wrapped rolls so we purchased them all. That night we opened the first roll and to we found all 50 to be wheat cents. We then quickly opened the other rolls and we found a total of 650 wheat cents. Many were earlier dates. The 100 that were not wheaties, were mostly 1960s.

Someone had to be holding on to these for a good number of years. I will go back to the bank on Tuesday to see if they have any hand-wrapped dimes and quarter rolls just in case the same person brought in their old dimes and quarters they had been sitting on.

We have been searching rolls for years. Always a lot of fun to find something special.

That's always a cool find. Out of all the times I've gotten rolls of cents from the bank, they're usually machine wrapped and when they're customer wrapped, I've only ever received two solid rolls of Wheats. And I've been doing this for nearly a decade.

The best roll that's ever come from a bank for me was this short roll of 40 coins. At least they were all Indians.

I've found plenty of wheat cent rolls and solid silver rolls at the bank.

Of course, that was in the late 1950s . . . image

I remember finding 2 rolls of mostly wheat cents, with many from the '40s having traces of original mint red. That was in 1966, and I have never found any rolls that good since then, so you were very fortunate to find so many.

    Thanks for sharing!
Finds like this really cheer me up.
I like roll searching a great deal and haven't hit anything really noteworthy in awhile now...
An occasional wheat and ONE 40% silver half is enough to keep me going.
    You had a great score!!!
