What 4 Commems did you choose for your 7070?

I have a nice Pilgrim already. I'm thinking an Oregon Trail would be nice but I need to decide on the other 2.

I put in Lincoln, Texas, San Diego, and Oregon.

Today I would put in a Pan pac and a Pilgrim instead of Texas and San Diego.
All coins kept in bank vaults.

I did a California, Illinois, Texas, and Maine. But most all of them are beautiful so whatever you choose it will be fantastic!

I have had two complete sets of four. The first set was comprised of modern commem clads.

The second and ? final set has been in the album together for several years:

I chose well-circulated (VF-AU) and relatively dark commems for my 7070. The coins were a Columbian (first official US half dollar commem), Maine (we go to Maine quite often and my wife and I went there after we were married), Oregon Trail (just a cool design) and Connecticut (my favorite commem).

I went with a southern & western theme:

    Texas
    Stone Mountain
    Spanish Trail
    Oregon Trail

    I really like this combination.

To elaborate on how I ended up with my four commems, in September, 2006, a forum member named SDCollector (from San Diego) had a west coast themed quartet for his 7070 and was dissembling his 7070 type set, which made these four available.

Colombian, Monroe, booker Washington and Carver/Washington. I went cheap.

I don't have a 7070 album, but if I were to chose four, here are my picks:

The Columbian because it was the first

The Delaware because that was where I was born and raised.

The Antietam because the design is neat and its connections to the Civil War

The Oregon because it is generally regarded as the most attractive.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I did an Indian theme. Can you guess which four?

The Texas has to be one, best design in the entire commemorative series (IMHO) and you can get gem examples cheap.

    Ok, I'll guess. image

Oregon, Long Island, Arkansas, Missouri. On the two inner coins (Long Island, left) a Dutch settler and Indian are facing an Indian Chief of 1836 and American girl of 1936 (Arkansas, right.) Flanking them is an Indian and frontiersman (Missouri, right) showing the way west while on the left an Indian (Oregon) gesturing to halt the expansion. On a variation of the theme I thought a 1928 Hawaiian on the right would be perfect symmetry to the Oregon, visually.

I've got a pilgrim, Texas, Roanoke, and Maryland in mine. It's been through a few transformations in the two years that I have been working the 7070.

    Thanks for the replies everyone.

There are lots of votes for the Columbian and several for the PanPac. I like the idea of Gettysburg or Antietam for the historical significance. The Oregon Trail runs a few miles from my house. Old wagon ruts are still visible in places. That one is a given.

I love the Texas obverse but the reverse seems to busy to be a true classic. The art deco eagle of the Connecticut is a bit too odd, but the Charter oak is fantastic.

    Love the California too........

I better be careful. This sort of thing could get a person drawn into a whole different corner of the hobby!

Columbian Exposition, California Jubilee, Pilgrim and Bay Bridge half dollars.

Since I live in Calif. I have thought about replacing the Columbian Exposition with a San Diego.

However, I have also thought about replacing the Columbian Exposition with an Oregon Trail since that coin's design is so appealing.
