One Major Difference Between PSA and SGC

  • IMO...(who cares, right) but...1958's, 1963's and 1971's in particular look much better in SGC holders than PSA's.

Some years ago, I sent about 24 vintage cards to PSA that were previously in SGC holders. ALL 24 came back exactly the same grade....

    Just my 14 cents.................
In the USA all men are created equal but some are more equal than others....
  • I agree on the 58's and the 63's looking better but the 71's I prefer in PSA cause of the black on black thing. The only problem I have is they rattle around (71's) in PSA holders! The card stock from that year seems thinner. You'd think this would be noticeable to PSA and they'd fix it.

  • << <i>PSA is more lenient on grading and from what everyone is saying, their slabs demand a premium (for whatever reason). So, let's say you have a NM-MT 1975 Topps Frank Robinson. You can send it to SGC and because of their strict standards it'll get an SGC 88 (worth $5?) or you can send it to PSA and it'll get a PSA 9 (worth $90). Why would you ever send a card to SGC? >>

So this must mean I should be able to go on ebay, buy up SGC 88's at $5 each, crack 'em out, send 'em to PSA, receive PSA 9's and then sell 'em for $90 each.

Wow, that sounds like easy money.

Why didn't anyone else ever think of this brilliant strategy?

I collect my 1978 Topps Baseball cards and my 1984-1996 Don Mattingly cards in PSA holders. I have no intention of selling any of the cards.
