Keep or sell? Seated half.

I like the toning on this, but it seems unusually bright for XF45. It almost looks cleaned/dip and since retoned. It's currently in a PCGS XF-45 holder.

What are your thoughts, would you personally keep it, or sell it?

    It's sharp for a 45, but I'm almost certain it's been cleaned...

Although I could see why our hosts found it "market acceptable" - The toning does cover some of the evidence.

JMO, you could find a much nicer, more-original example for the grade.

  • It might be hard tho.

I'm not so sure it's been cleaned, but maybe dipped.

For XF-45, it still has cartwheel luster. I've never seen anything below Au that still had cartwheel.

I've been looking at other seated halfs, and most are butt ugly. Dull grey with black areas, light grey with dully yellow toning, etc.

    Here was the sellers pics.

Kind of "juiced", IMO, although my pics are horrible, they are more accurate of how it looks in hand.

  • Lot of the seated stuff I run across looks like this:

Lemon yellow coloring. I dunno why lots of seated halves look like that. None of the capped bust halves look like that, nor do barbers.
Not attractive, IMO. I would like something more like this:

Sell. There are better examples out there.

The coin you don't like is the one I like the most image (and it has absolutely nothing to do with the bean) .. Looks choice, crusty and original .. to me anyway

  • Better examples for the grade? I don't want to spend any more to go higher up in grade. VF is actually good for me.

From your image, your coin looks cleaned and net graded to me . Sorry, I would not buy a coin that looked like that one. I see it as a problem coin.

Depends on what your goal are. Do you need to have that date and MM ?
Are you doing a type set, date set ect... Can you find a better one first ?
Will you make or loose money? Can it wait for latter?

See....there are many factors to consider.

I almost like the coin, but it appears to be quite hair lined, so I doubt i would
look at it every day and get much out of owning it.

The decision is ultimately yours. But if it were my coin, it wouldn't have a home with me for very long.

If you like it enough, keep it. If not, sell. Look around and see if it is easily replacable if you need it for a set. I know I have sold too quickly before
