yeah! the search is terrible. used to work perfectly and now always demands an extra phantom parameter.

shouldnt be long and they will be all over ebay. i havent bought anything from the mint in years. always easier to buy on the secondary market (usually cheaper too) the mint's marketing practices leave much to be desired.
regardless of how many posts I have, I don't consider myself an "expert" at anything

no way in heck I pay someone's markup for a mint product, esp when there are tons of sets to be had. wait a few months and score one. down silver, down!

The trouble is if you want a really nice set to put in your collection, you need to hand pick them. I buy them every year from my local dealer and pay him a couple of bucks profit. He lets me run through what he has and I get to mix the cases.

When I review these sets you be surprised general low quality. The presidential dollars are often spotted, there are marks on the other coins, the cents are sometimes spotted, and there are "holes" in Proof mirrors from less than perfect dies or planchets. I'm not going for PR-70 DCAM, but if I can see the problems with my bare eyes, I figure it's not up to shuff.

I stopped buying from the mint years ago because they sent me so much stuff with these problems plus the occasional finger print.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
