Bamazon on the History channel

I guess these guys are in South American hunting for gold because we won't let them tear up our forests like they are doing down there. I wouldn't want them in my back yard.image

Is this about Precious Metals or an environmental rant? You must have forgotten we cut down 100% of the East Coast forests in the 1600 and 1700's and turned it into farmland. It just began growing back in the past 75 years. image

No different than what happens on everyones favorite red neck gold mining show, Gold Rush.
Like on Gold Rush, the Bamazon miners have permission (or in some cases they themselves own the land) to be on the land and mine for gold. The land owner gets a pre-determined % for allowing the mining to occur.
On Bamazon, they make that very clear, sometimes several times per show...but that still didn't stop one of the Bamazon crew heavy equipment operators to practically destroy one of the local tribes paths (kind of like one of their main roads).
I guess what I'm saying is if you're upset about trees being torn down, blame the locals that gave the miners permission to be there. Don't blame the miners.

I don't get the B in Bamazon yet. I did see the show.

That high water pressure method is very distructive.

I got a kick out of the other show(?) where they went to africa to find gold. They weren't doing so well and hand 'encounters' on their supposedly alotted claim. Forget about even being able to dig. Then they got gold feaver and greedy over common sense. Went way out into a jungle road, met litterally in the brush somewhere to buy a huge gold bar for a supposed fantastic deal (greed). Then of course they were robbed at gun point on the way back where the road was blocked off. Earlier went to meet with a local dealer, for questionable dealing, and their followup news car was spotted along with the most obvious secret pocket camera they were using. They pushed the line several times and were lucky to come out alive, but broke of course. It may have been easier if they just spent all that money at Apmex and stayed home.

I also wonder if in Gold Rush if they will reclaim some of the land they destroyed.

What it shows me is that there is gold in many places, but cost prohibitive, or the big boys would already be doing it. Maybe half these guys are getting more from the TV show aspect of it, then from the gold.

(The lumberjack shows are the funnies. I like seeing them trying to jump out of the way all the time.)

    I agree.

It's called 'strip mining' and has been going on for centuries, in the name of progress, industrialization or capitalism or call it what you like.

On Axe Men, there's a guy on there they call Swamp Guy. He's in LA and always has his broad shouldered female cousin go out with him on a search. I know a guy that laughs exactly like him and he is always the life of the party. He will get you laughing just because of the way he laughs. image

Them guys in Alaska are just plain nuts...boo-koo kind of nuts. I don't envy what they do for a living for about a second.
