Thoughts on a Few Cards... Jordan RC, Thomas NNOF, HG Vintage (Scans Added)

In reviewing the NNOF Thomas', this looks like a fake to me. Notice the border outline near where his name is supposed to be. The line beneath that too. There should be breaks in those lines. Two legit ones here...

Jordan = many counterfeits, relatively low population for the Era will always keep (graded) examples in demand... but the prob with all the counterfeits will ALWAYS hurt sales of raw cards...
Ray/Bonds = a truly rare card for the Era, and undervalued in the long run, and should jump sooner than later (ie in 4 years When Bonds is a HOFer), its a True Error (Man Made) and had a short print run... Its too bad it wasnt Bond's face with Johnny Ray's name, that would be a better card
Thomas = a mechanical print flaw, not a true variation and not an True Error (man made), value will take this into consideration eventually...


PS. with the blue background, I would think it would be tough to erase the Thomas name, let alone the gloss would be missing (scuffed off) even if the box was white and not blue, not an easy trick to do IMO....

my question, are there any known ( good quality/production) counterfeits of the Ray/Bonds card? Never heard of them, if so

The Thomas is fake, because in the true NNOF the corner of his elbow is lighter, and the black border around the name area is also missing black. 100% fake. Not sure about the others, but since the Thomas is fake, I don't feel great about the other two.

The Thomas is a counterfeit, but I'd love to trade for it if it's available.

I see what you mean on the Thomas,

youd think a con would know rthat and also take off the pin lines too, that would be easier than the actual name IMO

strange card, is it counterfeit or a doctored authentic card ??

That Thomas looks like it's from the "Cards Your Mom Threw Out" Topps reprint/inserts from a couple years ago.

And they all look perfectly centered with sharp corners. You would think they would be in slabs, no?

I don't think any legit NNOFs have a complete TOPPS written in black either. This example does.

Since I won't be attending this auction anymore, unless there is some positive news reported, I'll post the rest of the scans here. There's some very nice vintage, sharp edges and corners. According to the auction house, they were mailed to them from the same dealer.

I am by no means an expert but the Jordan front looks good. The Fleer logo doesn't have the printing flaw a lot of fakes do. Of course, I'm going off old information on fake Fleer Jordans and it's certainly within likelihood that scammers have improved over the years. A high-res scan would certainly help with determining the printing process.

Sorry... no chance on better scans. These are sitting at their auction house. So my only bet would be to snap a few camera pics... which probably wouldn't cut it.

Count your lucky stars you are missing that auction. The Rose rookie card looks like a xerox of some sort.....the images look really off....same goes with the 1957 Topps Yankees Power Hitters.....it has almost a dot matrix effect. I doubt very seriously any of the cards are good, although some of them look really good image wise.

PS - the 1965 Mantle looks really bad as well........I hope the bidders don't get suckered into paying too much for worthless fakes.

Even if some are legitimate, they are more than likely trimmed. That would explain them being them being slabbed at some point, either graded as altered or slabbed by a company such as GEM that is known for encasing such cards. Why else would somebody crack out what looks to be cards that would grade well with nice centering and sharp corners?
