Package Missing 154 PSA Cards Board Detectives Needed !!

Good morning,

We have a group sub package missing with 154 PSA cards. It was last sighted (Scanned) on Dec. 10th at 9:00 am and has been missing since. That is 11 days ago. I have the PSA Shipping Supervisor, 4 different PostMasters and the USPS Business Enterprises looking for this package. They haven't fopund anything in 3-4 days of vigilant searching. Just in case it was stolen and somebody is stupid enough to try and move them quick I thought I would post the Cards and cert #'s so if any of you intrepid Detectives see anything you can alert! I hope I am just being overly Pessimistic, but also want to be proactive!

Thanks

Neil

Damn - that sucks, Neil. A few will certainly stick out on the 'bay if they get there. Fingers crossed fro you and the piggybackers that USPS comes through. Hopefully insured value is sufficient in case that isn't the case.

Good luck with it. I once received a notice from the P.O. to pick up a package (cards, but not from PSA). They could not find it. Eventually it was returned to sender-I have no idea where it had been. Anyway, I eventually got the cards.

    Hope is not lost!

I had a PRIORITY package take 10 days to get to Newport Beach and it was only scanned ONCE! If you checked the USPS website, it's still in Eatontown, NJ. lol

That's a good question, does anybody know how the process works in this case, I had $4500 on the lot. How does PSA calculate, being Self Insured? Do they pay the $4500 or do they do some sort of calculation based on the actual cards?

    Thanks

That happened to me as well. Fingers crossed.

I would suspect they'd use the SMR to value the cards... whether it's higher or lower than your self-imposed value.

Was it last scanned at the Anaheim sort facility? There are big issues there regarding stolen packages over on PCGS board.

No, it was last scanned in New Castle, CO. Basically PSA sent it to his old address and the last scan on Dec 10th says it was being forwarded. The forwarding address is in CO as well.

As silly as this sounds, According to the Post Office, for it to go from my old town to my new town, 35 miles apart, it needed to make a trip up and down I-70 for about 470 miles, and drive past the drop off location in the process. It would have to go to two different Central Distributing centers in Grand Junction Co. and then Denver, Co., then to my new town. This is the only hopefully saving grace, they just haven't found it yet and its just sitting somewhere still in their (Post Office) system

The assumption isn't that they get insured for whatever you paid? I would not assume PSA would be involved unless they damaged the cards, unless the address was their issue? Even then, I have a feeling you would be hard pressed to get them to cover more than what you paid to insure it for.

The question wasn't about getting covered for what I/We paid, but whether they Pay what we covered ($4500), or try and make it less using some formula (ie: SMR, VCP, E-Bay).

That's a good question, does anybody know how the process works in this case, I had $4500 on the lot. How does PSA calculate, being Self Insured? Do they pay the $4500 or do they do some sort of calculation based on the actual cards?

    Thanks

    Neil >>

The assumption isn't that they get insured for whatever you paid? I would not assume PSA would be involved unless they damaged the cards, unless the address was their issue? Even then, I have a feeling you would be hard pressed to get them to cover more than what you paid to insure it for. >>

The question wasn't about getting covered for what I/We paid, but whether they Pay what we covered ($4500), or try and make it less using some formula (ie: SMR, VCP, E-Bay).

    Neil >>

    Interesting concept... if I insure a $1,000 package for $5,000; should I receive $1,000 or $5,000? image

Do you know what the SMR value is... $4,500? more? less?

Odd - I guess that makes sense.....have a feeling you are hosed if you underinsure, and "only" get their perceived value if you overinsure according to their prices...crappy stuff.

    From the USPS:

    What is evidence of value?
If the item is worth $100 or less, you can provide a statement that includes the purchase date, location, and price, as well as whether the item was new or used.

For more expensive items, evidence of value can include…
    •a sales receipt.
•an invoice or bill of sale.
•a copy of the cancelled check or money order.
    •a credit card billing statement.
•a final and complete transaction sheet indicating the amount deducted from an Internet account.
•or other documentation indicating the amount paid.

For damaged items, you’ll also need to provide an estimate of the repair costs from a reputable dealer.

    From PSA:

PSA will exercise reasonable care in handling cards submitted for grading, review, or reholdering. However, if PSA determines that Customer's card was lost or damaged while in PSA's possession, Customer will be compensated based upon the fair market value of the card as determined by PSA standard procedures which may include filing a claim with our insurance carrier. The declared value you stated on this form is for estimating the insurance coverage only, and the fair market value of the card may be less than your declared value. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE TOTAL LIABILITY EXCEED THE DECLARED VALUE OF THE CARD. Such compensation shall be Customer's exclusive remedy for any loss or damage.

I don't understand the confusion... every thing is in black-and-white print and you acknowledge agreement with the above policies when you mail an item or submit a package to PSA. "The declared value you stated on this form is for estimating the insurance coverage only, and the fair market value of the card may be less than your declared value." It took me less than a minute to find the answer... and that included "creating" a submission form, Ctrl-F to search for insurance and Ctrl-C and then Ctrl-V to cut-and-paste the answer into this thread. image

See - I guess that is where I would have thought differently (wrong?). I would have thought PSA would not consider it in their possession once USPS confirms receipt. Why would PSA take responsibility of cards after they are out of their control? I can see PSA having too look at value if theyw ere to damage/lose a card in hand, but I would simply assume you get the insured value you place if USPS were to lose/damage the item.

I suspect PSA self insures the packages sent from their offices. As such, PSA is in "possession" of the package until it is received by the recepient.

If it is PSA's responsibility to insure the package when returning to sender, then it should be insured for the amount requested. Doesn't matter if it's "self insured", they should refund the full amount listed by submitter.

I also am one that probably under valued my cards and will take a hit.

Funny thing is I was pissed more about getting hosed on my grades than the package being lost.

Also Psa is on the hook not the USPS. PSA might recoupe their losses from USPS, but they 100% will have to pay Neil.

Lol. Really. Who the heck are you to judge my grading skills? This isn't some newbie putting together a sub and getting blasted. Plus all I said was I was pissed. News flash grading is subjective. I get that. I also know when my grades aren't what they should be. Having graded over 1000+ cards from the 50s I tend to think I can say whatever I want about my grades. Go put your blue gloves on and stick with those tilted 79s and troll elsewhere.

Yeah I've had good experiences with FedEx and UPS as well, lets see: the time I bought a Framed Collectible and it was tossed on the back deck in pieces, that was FEDEX, or the several times that my Packages were left out in the Rain, One time destroying about $150 worth of cards, got nothing but the runaround on that one..."It was Delivered Sir!", That's been both of them, more so UPS, but FEDEX as well, or the time that my package was left on the driveway and the neighbor kids stole it, or the time...........I could go on and on, they all have there downfalls and if you think anyone is better than the next...then your just one Fricked up package away from being anti ________ (Fill in the Blank)!

My son worked for FedEx for several years. He recommended you ship with another carrier if you want your package delivered safely. I purchased a fairly expensive card (for me) from a well respected seller. It was delivered by UPS. I was in my office, heard someone on the porch, went out to see who was there. He simply set the package down, not so much as ringing the bell. I guess I will stick with the USPS. On second thought they lost a package of PSA cards I shipped. Don't matter who you use, if you ship often sooner or later you will be dissapointed.

There are nightmare stories about all carriers. Tossing boxes, leaving expensive items on doorsteps, forging signatures for items and the list goes on. You are at the mercy of the honesty and integrity of each person that comes in contact with your package . . . plain and simple.

Hoping that Neil's package (sorry if that sounds funny) is just in limbo on a shelf somewhere and shows up soon. I'd hate to have that lingering over me...
