<< <i>I'm one of the few who do not know Mike, but may I ask a question. How old are his children, and who is in line to take care of them ? >>

Mike and Michelle have three kids:

    Tyla (14)
    Conner (8)
    Ryan (7)

They lived a block away from Mike's mother, so it is most likely they are with her right now.

Mark Hooks and I will be calling Mike's mother tonight to reach out to her and see how all of
Mike's CU friends can help. The kids are going to need enormous emotional support and counseling
    for an extended period.

Once we have made contact I will let our community know how Mike's family wishes to proceed.

How sad. I did not know Mike but seemed like a loving husband and good father. My heart goes out to the kids.

    I'm completely lost for words...

I met Mike here and He was very welcoming to me when I came over from the coin side of collecting on these boards. I first met Mike when I started on some of the early BBCE group rips. He was very helpful and I was in awe of just how much work went into organizing it. I sent him a PM thanking him, as he was so nice to me as I signed up late to this 1 particular rip that had some 1980 Topps because I had to work, he deleted his name and entered mine, just so I could buy something. When he did that I made it a point to get to know this Fella.

When I found out that "70toppsfanatic" and Mike were going to have a booth at the Chicago National a few years ago, I made it a point to search out his table and shake his hand and say Thank you in person, and I'm sooo glad I did now that this tragic day has come. I remember that I bout a couple of 1980 Topps wax from a dealer around the corner and wanted to rip them at their booth, so they made a nice little area for me to rip. It was a fantastic time, even when I pulled an o/c Henderson R/C. Certainly a good time that I will now cherish as wonderful memories.

May You rest in Peace Mike Kelley...You will be missed every day.

    Your friend always,
    Paul.

    Later, Paul.

Well, I stand corrected. I was just sent a PM, and just realized this wasn't Mike I was speaking with in Chicago.

Apologies to Matt and to Mike.

    Later, Paul.

    Paul,

You were not wrong. It was Chicago at the Sun Times show in November, 2012 (not National in 2013) and it remains a fond memory
    for me too!

  • Damnit this sucks.
I read along with the health struggles with his wife and it brought me to tears even though I never met the man or really even interacted with him much.

    Prayers to his children

Thanks, I had never read it (and a phantom email address worked fine).

My prayers to Mike's children. I might Mike a few times and he was very generous. I remember seeing him give a homeless person $20 at 2012 National in Baltimore.
