WINGS
I asked the same question on the World coin forum - has anyone heard of / used WINGS (World Identification and Numismatic Grading Service)? Website www.wingscoins.com. They had a full page advert. in the latest edition of CoinWorld. Gold stickers all round!

Experienced and a good eye for coins.
His brand has not been fully accepted by the market in world coins like cac has for US coins and therefore adds little value to the slab, imo.
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
He looks mean, but he's one of the really nice guys in the business.

Also, I think WINGS' shipping costs policies are terrible. That alone would prevent me probably from ever using them. I have shipping instructions with at least 2 services that inform them to use USPS Priority Insured (with minimal insurance) because I'm privately insured. It might be somewhat less secure than Registered, that WINGS would force on someone like myself (yes you could have an alternate carrier but you need an account with them plus you pay a forced additional fee for the privilege), but to date I have never had an issue with that mode of transit.
One of the key components of the CAC success story is the large checkbook that JA keeps at the ready to keep a floor under prices for CAC coins and to keep that market liquid. While all stickering services (CAC, WINGS, and whatever happened to Mike Ellis' modern coin stickering?) are opinions and only as good as the opinion-maker, CAC is the only service to back their opinion up with a check.
<< <i>Goldberg's sent in a lot of the world coins in their September Long Beach auction to Wings. Some of the stickered coins went for more money than their non-stickered counterparts, but it's tough to say whether the sticker made the difference or if it was just the quality of the coin. There certainly hasn't been any extra re-sale demand for the Wings-stickered pieces that I purchased.

So, if CAC went under, would CAC'd coins have essentially no extra appeal (say 10 years after the end of the company)?
*Even if they did they're too heavy to fly, although bumblebees do disprove my theory.
