Should I submit this coin for grading?

Have had this for over 35 years -- yes before TPGs were prevalent. Never got around to submitting it, because I think they will net grade it due to old cleaning. What would you do?

Geez, I'm buried in it at fifty bucks (yes $50).
<< <i>I think right now they would give a cleaned details holder. They have tightened up their grading standards. >>
Or perhaps, overly cautious?
Which encourages resubmission.
Exactly what evidence is there of an "old cleaning"? At least, that can be determined from the photograph.
The name is LEE!

That's $50 in mid 1970's dollars. That's like $500 in today's money.
<< <i>If you think it has a shot at grading and are looking at selling it, then yes, get it graded. Otherwise there's not much harm in enjoying it as-is. >>
I concur.
But with those Two little C's on it it is worth sending in to get in a Genuine Details AU holder if your thinking of selling now or at anytime in the further.
It looks like a really nice 1873-CC Half Dollar. Coins Magazine says 6500 AU 50, 12500 MS 60, and 80,000 MS 65.
Its too valuable a coin not to submit it and the final verdict rests with the graders. I would want to know what they would grade it. All you have to lose is the grading fee. Unless it has cleaning marks I would not be quick to call it a problem coin or bodybag. Let the TPG make that call.
Even if it comes back in a details holder you can research Teletrade to see what similar pieces went for . There are dealers who buy problem coins off Teletrade to sell them elsewhere whether in the same details holder, raw, or in their own self slab.

To bad you didn't have it in an album for the last 30 years or so.
Good luck!

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

The posted pic is about 4 years old. I've had it wrapped up in a taco bell napkin since then....just need to find it now!
<< <i>...let me ask you this.....what do you have to lose......do I need to repeat the question?
I have to lose the coin by it going through the Anaheim sorting facility.
It's a gorgeous coin, I love the details!

I submit a lot of coins, and I have seen no evidence of any tightening. Or loosening, for that matter.
