So did I. I did not get anything to speak of. I have not opened my two packs of 80 Topps baseball. I'm going to wait until tomorrow morning. I'm giving a pack to my boss….let's see if he gets the Henderson. (I'd be pissed if he got it and I didn't!!)
<< <i>Did anyone else think that the 1980 Topps BB cards smelled horrible? As soon as I opened them, I could smell them and it was bad. >>
They were definitely quite musty but to me that is a positive sign as it shows that the packs have been sitting in storage somewhere over the years and are authentic unopened.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
re - Smelly 1980 wax packs: At the National this year, I bought an assortment of wax packs from BBCE. The 1980 packs smelled bad enough that after I opened them, I just threw the cards away (no Hendersons). The other packs were the usual delightful smell of cardboard and old gum.

I got some 78 Wax several years back that smelled very musty when opened -- I ended up airing them out for a while before boxing them up and putting them away.

Mine smelled beautifully!!!!!
It's a little OC, but was a great pull. I had two packs and I gave one to my boss (he's a buddy of mine), I actually let him choose which pack to open...he picked the wrong pack!
Mine arrived today! I am going to bust now......2 1983 Basebasee cello packs, 2 1993 Baseball Finest packs and 2 1977 Baseball wax.....................Scans to follow. Nice pull on the Henderson! Bob

Well one of the 1983 cellos has Tom Seaver on top that I will keep sealed for now. The other yielded nothing.
The 1993 Finest gave me PSA 10 worthy cards of Moises Alou, Andy Van Slyke, and Andre Dawson all star. There were also Tim Raines and Eddie Murray both of which are a little oc.
The 1977 yielded the following. Too bad the Schmidt did not have the Lyle centering...................
FUN RIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I got my box in today. Everything looks great with the exception that I was shy a 1978 Cello pack. So I will have to call tomorrow. It will give me an opportunity to order something extra since he was out of 85 O-Pee-Chee boxes when I placed the order.
Mygotta - Another board member got his package and was short (2) 78 cellos. A few people have received (2-3) 78 cellos they shouldn't have received. I am sure they will let Steve know they received in error.
I talked to Steve and he will make sure anyone who didn't receive what they paid for is taking care of in case someone decides to pull a fast one which I highly doubt will happen with the guys who participate in the rips.
BTW...props to Steve for superior Customer Service. Everyone is bound to make a mistake but his team fixes quickly. Good Job BBCE.

Ahh, thanks Mark for the heads up. Yeah, no disrespect. That is a difficult order to fulfill and he packaged everything as an art dealer would a Picasso. He also gave me an 83 Donruss box to hold the packs I ordered in to boot! If there are no 78's left, I can just use it for credit as there is always something else to get
These will be a fun rip. I will put them in my closet and see how long I can hold out...
Needless to say, thanks again for putting all of this together (and Steve!). I am very happy with the service and the product!
I've been keeping track of the Finest pulls, there were a few horribly centered cards but the All Stars seemed to be the best. That Henderson is a cool pull! I have an unopened pack that is for my collection that I have been eyeing. I already tore thru the 84 and 86 football that were for my unopened collection. Of course nothing of note though.
Let me add a note to this topic. Typically, when I recieve my stuff from these group breaks, I don't even open the boxes. I don't normally open anything and I have learned to trust BBCE. All my boxes go into storage with the other unopened material. Well, the last break was no different. I put the box of goodies in a plastic container and into storage. I recieved an email from BBCE the week after I recieved the box. They told me I may have been short changed a pack and I was asked to open the box to verify. I was in fact short a pack and it was promptly shipped to me. It just goes to show how awesome these guys are with their record keeping and the integrity of the folks that make these rips happen. If I were one of the guys who got an extra pack, I would let Steve and his staff know, its the right thing to do.

Did anyone get anything out of the 78 cellos, I had all commons in my two was hoping to see a good Molitor or Murray pulled. Also has anyone gotten a Jerry Rice.
Thank you! I called them and they pulled out the tracking number and it showed the package was delivered this past Monday. Only problem, is that it was not delivered to me!
I checked all around outside of our house, and question neighbors on both sides as well as across the street. None of them had received any errant packages. Then this morning.....I go out the door for work and mysteriously sitting at our front door is the lost package. I guess one of the neighbors checked with other family members and they had received it and not said anything. One of them returned it overnight and didn't identify themselves.
At any rate, it's here and I'll open this afternoon.
Looking forward to it!
Rodney

Hi all, For those waiting on their 1978 cello. My package arrived a couple days ago and I received (2) 1978 cellos that were not mine. They mistakenly sent 1978 cellos in place of the 1980 cellos that I ordered. I already emailed steve and I mailed the 78's back to him yesterday. They should get to him on Monday, and then he will send them to the correct person.

Just spoke with Steve and he mentioned he was aware there was a problem with those and credited me, which, I gladly placed a new order for some good 85/86/87 wax boxes and I treated myself to a pack of 75 mini's . So those will be shipped today! Great service all around and his packing is impeccable.
My packs/boxes arrived Tuesday in South Orange County CA. I opened the box last night and everything was beautifully packed and in great condition. Nothing of note showing aside from a Yount 82 Donruss. Had to resist tearing into these on the spot since i am giving these to my dad to open for Xmas - we are big 49er fans, so I am hoping one of the football packs will deliver. Hopefully i can update this thread in a month with some good news. With the great assortment of years/sports in this break, should be fun regardless.
I went through my 20 some odd packs today. Most of the baseball was not very noteworthy besides a string of George Bretts. The 77 pack I opened had a Turn Back the Clock Yaz card, but otherwise nothing. Minor stars abound. My big pay day was in the few football packs I bought.
What are you people doing with your 77 Topps commons? I'm looking for a few commons to finish a set.

Good news/bad news. The good news is I got '76 cellos with Tom Seaver and Babe Ruth ATAS showing on top. The bad news is I got a 1982 OPC wax pack instead of a case fresh 1982 Donruss wax box. Anyone get my wax box instead of a 1982 OPC wax?
I hope whoever has GemMints 1982 Donruss wax box contacts him.
