Help!! "floating" card has moved up and won't come down!! UPDATE - Card is FREE and obvi

I was hoping someone had some prior experience with this and could offer some sound advice for my problem. I recently bought a Dick Butkus card for my Dick Butkus master set. The sticker/card is one of those that "floats" in the case, as PSA doesn't have a case to fit it precisely. This is the card...

Well, long story short, the card has shifted during shipping, and has now moved up really high in the case - so high that I can't get it back down. I have tried jarring the case, tapping it on a desk, even hitting the slab with a rubber mallet. The card won't budge. Any idea on how to get it down, without sending it back to PSA would be greatly appreciated!

In all seriousness I had the same issue with a wiffle ball disc in an old slab. Disc moved up and wedged. Tried smacking it on the desk, the rubber mallet, nothing worked. Ended up sitting the slab straight up in the space between my top load washer door and top. Ran a wash and the vibration from the spin cycle jarred the disc free. Sounds funny but it worked.

You may also want to try tapping/banging the right side of the holder. It looks like it is also stuck on the left.
Go back and forth with the bottom and right sides. When you do get it to move, it might get stuck in a different place and you need to start over. The reason this happens is because the cardstock is too thin.
I've done this with hundreds of cards and fixed all of them. One or two were damaged though. Not damaged from the tapping/banging but from being wedged in there too long. There would be an indent in the card from the rails of the holders.
This sounds like a frustrating situation Bobby so good luck.

<< <i>The key is to hold the holder loosely. If you hold it tight, it won't move. >>
When I do the sides, his legs shift from side to side....but there is no getting his head down. His head is past that line/border at the top. It has a good hold on it.

Try holding it loosely at the flip with your thumb on the front and your index finger on the back. And then bang a bottom corner against a thick rug. You won't crack or frost the case. Go back and forth with banging the bottom corners until you see some movement.

You're on the right track with the legs shifting. Keep going. Back and forth. Again, don't put pressure on the case. The head will come down.
but in all honesty this has been hands down the best thread to read out loud in a long time...

<< <i>Well....I have succeeded only in 'walking the dog'. I got the card to move from left to right. Now if I can only get that top bar to actually "release" the grip it has on his head, that would be SUPER!!!! I will keep everyone updated, and pray tell this doesn't happen to you!
I will be sitting by my computer all day waiting for an update!!
If it releases from the precarious pinching position, it will have damage and isn't really a PSA 10 anymore. Bobby won't be happy and we'll get a "What Does PSA Do?" thread.
If it stay pinched, Bobby has to pay to ship it back to PSA for them to fix it or him and it will probably not be reholdered in a PSA 10. The we get a different "What Does PSA Do?" thread.
Either way, PSA is to blame... And Bobby is again the victim. And we get to wade through all of the drama.
Isn't it interesting why some people have all the luck and some people get the poop end of the stick . . . is it karma or just one's outlook on life?
Carry on!
<< <i>UPDATE - the card is now FREE. It is no longer a '10'. it is obviously pinched at the top. And otwcards is correct. I am sure somehow I am to be blamed for the card working it's way up to the top. I am indeed the victim, and I now have a '9' that I paid $20 for that looks better than my '10' that I paid $70 for. Somehow, I am supposed to suck it up, and I am sure that I am going to be torched....how on earth can I own a PSA '10' that doesn't look like a '10'. Let the troll games begin......scan to come later. >>
Bobby - I did not say it was your fault. It is unfortunate, but it is something that happens. But you were PLAYING the victim from jump-street, as you always do. A role that has, in my humble opinion, become tiresome.
Life is a series of struggles and successes. It is what we make of it. Most people understand that. My simple point is that you are a poster that seems to relish in gloating about your successes and whining about your struggles and virtually everything you post is some sort of drama that is unimportant and inconsequential to most others. Were it an occasional occurrence, most wouldn't care as we all have those moments. However, you seem to have them at an alarmingly consistent rate. Karma?
edited to correct glaring spelling error... (thanks Marc)

<< <i>I think we all know the end result of this exercise... No matter what, the card is not longer GEM MINT and is no longer worth $80.00, but more like $20.00.

What a sad story!

No pic to show the obvious damage?
I guess that fits huh?
WHY did you force the card to be in the center??
WHY???
JK
good luck with your new adventure.
Hope all works out.
<< <i>When this happens, it's because the cards are too thin. If someone at PSA banged the holder immediately after it was encapsulated, it would slip under the rail. The PSA holders are not designed to accommodate very thin cardstock. >>
I agree that the stickers are too thin for the holder; but being that the issue happened during shipment, as the auction scan demonstrates, I'm willing to bet temperature had something to do with this. The bubblemailer was shipped with the sticker upside down, causing the smallest boarder to rest against the top bumper. Minute expansion allows the thin stock enough room to slip under the bumper; the plane lands, and the plastic warms and contracts, crimping the sticker under the bumper.
