best day around xmas / nye to end ebay auctions?

i know it's a ways out yet, but I'll be throwing up about 5-10k of stuff up on ebay around Christmas time and am thinking about when to end the auctions. It seems that sundays are generally now the best, but with Sundays being the holiday days this year, what would be the best date to end 7 day (or 10 day) auctions on you think? Any previous experience or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Keep it on the weekends, Fryday or Saturday nights always work pretty well, and valid point don't have the listings end on a holiday...nobodys at thiere computers, the most you could get is some iphone bidding.

I would avoid those holiday weekends altogether to sell on eBay. Too many people travelling.

Do you find that buyers suspend their hobby purchases in December to concentrate their buying on gifts?

I got some bargains two years ago the week of Christmas and many cards that month went much lower then I expected.

I think you need to be careful with so many having to turn their focus on gifts for their family.

If you have an item that never comes up perhaps you are okay but more common items I tend to think will sell for less then you want.

Perhaps some more active sellers can give their take.

right before and during winter holidays is the best time to be a buyer, not a seller. however.......if you are trying to sell something which is attractive and will capture the attention of as few as even 2 potential buyers, you should do well, as there are no days on the calender which prevent hunters from hunting.

every day stuff will likely be met with ambivalence and lower bids, since most of your bargain shoppers will be at the mall.

IMO a 10 day .99 cent auction ending around 9-9:30 est works best. Also it really does not seem to matter what day, I have had the same card sell for more on a Monday or Tuesday than a Thursday or Sunday and reverse.
  • I think there are a few of us who buy our own "presents" after Christmas as well.

hi all - thanks for the good suggestions and tips. unfortunately, I'll only have from the 15th of December until the 5th of January in the states, so I might have to just take my chances with them and hope for the best. Most are PSA graded packs from the 60s and 70s though, so there will hopefully be a decent amount of interest. Thinking I might run them from the 18th to the 28th?

If you sell anything that closes inside of two weeks of Christmas, you will likely see some discounting. Between one week before and after, you will likely see even more discounting. I would suggest continuing to stick with weekend auction end times.
Always buying 1971 OPC Baseball packs.
  • I always like .99 auction starting Thursday night, ending Sunday night, so 10 days. Worth the extra pennies for a few more eyes.
