. we got extremely lucky. we have reached the maximum amount of characters that can be placed into one post (i don't recall being aware of this limitation previously). i had a mild stroke after i edited the thread with the most recent update and it cut a large portion of it out when i submitted the changes!!!!!! i've been making backup of more important threads i edit and thankfully i/we didn't lose any info.
i'll be breaking up the first post into a few of my first posts of this thread. i'm also going to do a character count to see where the cutoff is. looks like 27,999 with spaces.

we got extremely lucky. we have reached the maximum amount of characters that can be placed into one post (i don't recall being aware of this limitation previously). i had a mild stroke after i edited the thread with the most recent update and it cut a large portion of it out when i submitted the changes!!!!!! i've been making backup of more important threads i edit and thankfully i/we didn't lose any info.
i'll be breaking up the first post into a few of my first posts of this thread. i'm also going to do a character count to see where the cutoff is. looks like 27,999 with spaces.
if this thread starts getting too cluttered up, i may opt to start a new thread and transfer all the data over and i'll make the first 20 posts so they will be reserved for just the links with no one else posting in-between with a link to this thread. i've done it with a couple other of my threads but i will give it some more thought for another time.
to give you an idea of how much was almost lost. i did a character count of the backup i did right before submitting the changes (thank god) and here was the count!!!!! 59,541 characters with spaces.
i'm not going to do the changes tonight as i'm tired and would rather do it after a good nights rest but remember i have the backup on my pc of the full changes and also i backup my whole hard drive externally, so there is redundancy.

China and China Empire and such are "Mainland China" or the current "China"
Before 1911, there was no system of two competing governments, so they all go into "China"
