AU or UNC (grade revealed)

Thoughts on a technical grade? I assume the scratches are on the holder.

Eye appeal?

AU grade.
"“Those who sacrifice liberty for security/safety deserve neither.“(Benjamin Franklin)
"I only golf on days that end in 'Y'" (DE59)
<< <i>Scratches look like they are on the coin (especially the obverse).
AU grade. >>
Agree. The pics are lousy but good enough to rule out a MS grade.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
"Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value---zero."----Voltaire
"Everything you say should be true, but not everything true should be said."----Voltaire
Is the toning weird or is just my eyes?

<< <i>If it doesn't get bodybagged for the scratches, I feel it's a definite au55, maybe even au58. >>
What about the toning, though? Cleaned at an earlier stage? Dipped? Eye appeal?

Yes, probably re-toned from an old dipping, but no big deal because most 'white' old coins have been dipped once or twice before.

What does that mean, then... that it is "market acceptable?" It won't body bag a coin like this?
"Seu cabra da peste,
"Sou Mangueira......."
<< <i>Pic appears to be 1 1/2 to 2 stops overexposed. Numerous hairline type small scratches on obverse gives me a first impression that the coin has been cleaned. Graded or not, market acceptable or not, pass. My opinion may change if I can get a better pic. >>
My thoughts are the same with regard to exposure. It probably doesn't represent the coin very well.
That said though, I like my seated coins to be a bit crustier. This one looks like it was cleaned
multiple times.
Technical 55.
Well, just Love coins, period.
The actual grade is PCGS AU-55.
Can a coin this "flashy" (obviously dipped) still come back with a grade?

Not sure that I follow you?
It already did. PCGS graded it as a 55.
