First time coin roll hunting

So, apparently it's tough to find half dollars in Chicago.. I use Citibank, and they all don't keep rolls of halves on hand. Most of them, the teller told me, don't even order boxes. Oh well- I'm sure eventually I'll find a branch that does.
Well, I decided to pick up 2 rolls of dimes- not for actual coin roll hunting, but because I needed change. For the heck of it, I decided to look through them, and found two Roosevelt dimes... one from 1948, the other from 1962. Not the best condition, but they weren't horrible, either.
I thought it was pretty cool.
Which, finally, leads me to these questions...
(1) Do some denominations yield higher quantities of silver metals than others? Should I always try getting the half dollar rolls, or would some other roll work as well?
(2) Beside banks, are there other places that'll exchange cash for rolls of coins?
(3) Do you all coin roll hunt? If so, what was the coolest thing you've ever found?

I find it helps to look for more than one thing to keep it interesting.
Some ideas on top of looking just for silver:
Look at different denominations.
Fill some folders.
Look for varieties.
Look for errors.
Doing cents you can look for wheats or some people even hoard the copper ones.
type2,CCHunter.
(2) some mgrs can be talked into selling the coin counting machine bags at what the machine "says" it has in them.
(3) a MAD half dollar, a 1970S Half dollar, a 1999 Wide AM cent in MS63RB, war nickels, I found an old roman coin on the floor next to a coin counting machine
a lot of banks get burned out receiving the old coins back and refuse to order anymore for anyone except commercial accounts. And due to the Patriot Act, banks are now requiring a business license to open a commercial account.
2) Casinos.
If I keep coming across Roosevelt dimes, I suppose I might have to start a collection... dimes don't particularly interest me, I suppose, but I could use an album or two to take with me to coin shows (to use as trade material).
If anyone else has coin roll hunting advice, I'd love to hear it (i.e., Someone told me not to bother with quarters, because of all the state quarters hogging up the rolls).

it's bad form to dump your searched coin back at the same branch as provided it. that only hastens them not wanting to see you again.
I would recommend checking smaller banks for rolls of halves - you never know what people will deposit.
Do casinos even use coins anymore? I thought that they had converted their slot machines to spit out receipts instead of coins.

When you're playing with generally low-stakes ($5-$10/hand) blackjack, sometimes the dealer can reward you with a half dollar (i.e., when you get a blackjack and he owes you 150% of your bet- in the case of a $5 hand, that'd be $7.50).
I'm not sure if there's something similar in Poker, or if you just round up.

2.) Depends where you are for casinos. I am in Pa and as far as I know none of them accept coins. You can get them when cashing in a voucher but they do not use them at all in Pa.
3.) Around Oct. 1961 I found a 1909-S VDB lincoln cent in a roll. On April 13th 1973 at 11:56pm, I found a 1972 DDO in a roll. Yes, I still have both of them. I also found a 1857 Flying eagle cent in a roll in the early 1960's-This was the neatest find although not worth as much as the other two, finding a flying eagle cent in a roll was exciting-I still have this one also. I have not done much roll hunting in the past 5 years or so however but will start again probably after I retire in Jan.
Congrats on finding silver in a roll. There is not much left in circulation. The last silver coin I got was from a casino voucher cashing machine a few months ago--a war nickel. Other than that one, it has been quite some time since I got a silver coin in circulation-I am talking like 10 years or more.

4 weeks ago found 160 coins almost 850 bucks silver value
3 weeks ago found about 160 dollars worth of silver
2 weeks ago found 15 dollars worth silver
1 week ago found 150 dollars worth silver.
So far this year we are about 5k to the good. Saving it for a vacation.
<< <i>I search 4k a week with my kids, we do half dollars. it is hit or miss but let me break down last month.

How do you dump 4K in halves, so to protect yourself from not getting the same bunch?
What denomination(s)?

I don't have the time to search that I used to, so I stick mostly to cents and nickels these days. Nickels are probably a good place to start for the beginner, as older Jeffersons are still common finds. War nickels and even buffaloes come up fairly frequently as well. Cents will of course yield wheats, sometimes a lot of them, which is always fun.
To answer the question asked, u must learn what co delivers to your bank, i dump at different bank that uses a different coin curier service.
<< <i>Ps. I search pennies also, love doing them with my kids. >>
I've considered searching through pennies in rolls from the bank. I once went through my dad's change bucket- a *very* large water fountain jug (the kind that look like this) that was filled up 1/4 the way with random coins. Needless to say, I came across many, many pre-1982 (copper) pennies that I set aside, a handful of wheats, and (shockingly) only 2 silver coins.
I guess my question is... do you ever come across wheat pennies that are in good condition when you go through the bank's rolls? Any wheat penny with some luster on it? Most of the ones I found were really dull, and weren't really special to look at or enjoy.
Perhaps bank rolls are different, of course.

If your casino spreads low stakes stud poker anti is usually a half dollar too.
Found 5 40% so far this year form spotting them in tables chip rack, asked dealer to buy it and they only can sell it to you for .50 but then tip them a buck or so later.
Also can color up to cash or dollar or 5 dollar chips at cage with leftovers.
