David Hall Numismatic Investment Group - is there a grade guarantee??

Hall flip - needs conserving??
I collect these but this is the first I've seen with serious issues. The coin is in a container sealed inside the flip - interesting.........

And yes the coins are in a cointain inside the heat sealed flip.
Edit to add many of the good ones have made it into new slabs at higher grades as these used to be sought avidly by the crack out artists.
<< <i>I am going to guess that there is no guarantee that is in effect. Those flips are hardly tamperproof. >>
His flips were sonicaly sealed with a special seal that incorporated his name. It would be difficult to tamper with it without it being detected. You can see it in the eBay pics in the attachment.

I thought that most of these were in the containers that fit the coin without the gasket ring. (might be wrong)

Also, the typing on the labels looks a bit different in the eBay example... is that an earlier or later example you think???

Needless to say, I don't use those holders. I'm presently testing the IS holders with a few lower grade but lustrous coins.

You're referring to the gasket ones - correct?? Interesting...........
<< <i>I tested those holders years ago only to find that they left a film of some kind on the coins. >>
Same here. I put some silver coins in those gasket holders (I think they are called AirTite) back in the 1980s, about the same time David Hall was using them. When I looked at them again a couple of years ago, I noticed an unattractive film on all the coins. I don't think that foam is inert.

More like a sturdy porous foam. Were there two kinds?
