When to sell RA Dickey? 20th Win or Cy Young

I believe RA Dickey is up for his 20th win tonight. If he gets it, is the time on him to sell now or if / when he wins the Cy Young? I have a few signed items of his I may want to move.

Let me first start by saying I am a METS fan and have been a Dickey fan for the past several years.

If he gets his 20th win this afternoon, it will be a great accomplishment.

I do not know what the effect will be on his cards. HOWEVER, people WILL KNOW that he got his 20th win. There could be some increased interest in his cards.

If he does NOT win the Cy Young (man, I hope he does), you may have lost your opportunity to sell at a time when the interest was increased.

Sell when he gets the 20th. He and Gio Gonzalez will probably have a close race for the Cy Young.

    +1

I think there is a VERY good chance that Gio will pass him up and claim the CYA.

Is there really that much interest in this guys cards? That is, if he wins 20 are his cards going to spike in value?

Everything's a big deal in NY. He'll be the Mets first 20 game winner since 1990.

When the Giants traded their top prospect pitcher Zack Wheeler to the Mets last year, his 2009 Bowman Chrome AU Refractor more than doubled in price.

    1) Sell now. The old saying that I can never remember; "A bird in the hand is worth more than...."

    2) The CY Young is announced when, late November early December? You're losing some of your target market as the seasonal collector has moved onto NBA, NFL, etc.

What possible argument can be made for Gio Gonzalez other than the fact that he doesn't throw a knuckleball?

    Dickey 20-6 227 ip 222 so 1.05 whip 2.69 ERA
    Gonzalez 20-8 193 ip 201 so 1.12 whip 2.84 ERA

Dickey leads the league in wins, innings, strikeouts, complete games, shutouts and is second in era by .01 and third in whip by .01, pitching for a horrid team rather than a first place team.

Craig Kimbrel has insane numbers and only three blown saves. If he can overcome the bias against a reliever, he could win.

Dickey's name should be at the top of the list of NL starters. Whether a starter wins or not is another question. As mentioned above, Kimbrel is having a filthy season.
