If you started a Numistmatic Reality Show (NRS), who would you

BochimanBochiman Posts: 25,556 ✭✭✭✭✭
have as the main character(s), from this message board?

You would probably want to have someone who is really quirky (think of someone like Barry from Storage Wars).
Maybe someone who is "loved by all"....
Someone(s) who always seem to argue with everyone else and have to have it their way (may not want to answer this particular one image )

So, who would give the most entertainment, just from the way that they post on these forums?

I definitely know who I would nominate/want as the quirkiest, that I think would make for a great part of the show, but I will save that for later so as not to influence anyone....

And, if you post a forum handle, please also post the role that you would see them in for the show....

Certainly you need to have someone that can do great research, quickly. Experience does
not need to be a factor as if it's a buying and selling type show then some will be "wins" and
    some will be "losses".

I'd like to see a newby on the team. I'll nominate Steeler.
Experience would be a must on the team and an old gent like Bill Jones would be great
    to be on the team.
Then a Penny Lady or Coinsarefun to add some spice would be great but I don't think the
wine drinking and poker playing could be included!

The thing is, there are a lot of entertaining things that are said and done at coin shows, but a lot of it is not intended for print or video. I for one would generally not want my business dealings put out into the public domain although for some inconsequential items it might be OK.

But who wants to see Coinosaurus negotiate for 2x2 holders with the Wizard guys? Not very entertaining image

I don't know who I'd have starring in the 'NRS" show, but I'd have Al Hagar as the coin 'expert' appraiser. (similar to the 'storage wars' appraisers).

That should bring in the ratings!!
"Gold is money, and nothing else" (JP Morgan, 1912)

"“Those who sacrifice liberty for security/safety deserve neither.“(Benjamin Franklin)

"I only golf on days that end in 'Y'" (DE59)
  • It would be me and Kate Upton on a desert island looking through 10 million rolls of pennies.

I don't care about ratings. image

  • A traveling "hidden Camera" type of thing, Bochiman? Visit a different B&M each episode?

If that was the format, I'd want: Bill Jones, TomB, TDN, RYK, Barndog, Broadstruck, (as the comedian,) Wei, Seateddime, OnlyRoosies, Crazyhounddog, Mrpotatoheadd, Rick Snow, Cladking, 19Lyds, and Charmy (in various disguises playing the clueless widow.)

And, if she still visited the forum, Laura... image

Eh. You'd have to go to a lot of different B&Ms to get any good stories. Same old, same old for most of them. Move metal, take a few percentage points off the top.

Hotel buyers who don't recognize rare coins? That's hardly news.......

    No Question About It------LAURA
  • It doesn't matter what the question is ... the answer is always LAURA !! image

You guys aren't staying within the guidelines....

Forum people. Laura has not been a forum member in a long time.

For quirkiness, and I hope he takes this right as I don't mean it to be insulting in the least, I would want to have BRADDICK on the show. That man comes up with the interesting coins that I could imagine and he isn't shy about submitting them. He also never complains about any of his risks. I respect that.

I would also like to see John (CRO) as a dealer on there, as I think his humor would shine through.

Others TBD, but definitely Braddick.... image

    Nice Franklin, Pat! image

I would also likely add 2 more characters....

Charmy (ThePennyLady) - as she can get anyone to get in a picture and can sweet talk anyone and anything image
    and
LakeSammmmmmmmman - He makes me laugh whenever I see him work his magic on deals....and he also, like Pat, goes eclectic on many of the numismatic items

So, so far, for pure entertainment purposes, I would want:

    Braddick
    LakeSammman
    ThePennyLady

Better see if you can get BNB reinstated for this project...

Sorry to say, THESE kind of shows just don't make it without THAT kind of talent image
  • There are only two requirements that would have to be present in order for the show to be a success. 1- great coins to talk about. and or 2- A hot Chick.

That lady has a one million dollar smile and the camera picks it up well.

Good luck to her with the show.image

You'd really have to include former members to make this as interesting as possible. It would have to be 'Bulldog.' Anyone who said he was thinking of going to a coin show but passed on the idea because he didn't want to put on a pair of shoes is my kind of guy. I also liked his comments re "pootin' in Church."

The guy was as honest as the day is long, was quite knowledgeable about what he collected, and was totally devoted to his young daughter.

Current, eh - no Anaconda or Bongo-Bongo??

We need a character who is ripping off widows and children by day and doctoring coins by night, fencing his work to other willing dealers and is defended by a ruthless attorney.

Fortunately, there's no one on the board who's qualified. image
