Anyone know the melting point of a PCGS insert??

It apparently happened when sitting on a dashboard (no idea of the temperature, or circumstances, or security implications of putting a coin on your dash).

Not sure of the exact melting point but Lakesammman if you send me a sample slab I'll test it!
here in Southern Cal and it was about 90' degrees or more
and I had a few early proof sets in Capitals sitting in my allstate
case and it just warped the hell out of them and melded the
plastic nut and bolts together, it was'nt a pretty lesson
Steve
Thinking back it was probably more like a 100' degrees in the direct sun
Thanks for the offer - you'll probably need to test every generation of insert??

<< <i>There is a dealer on the coin circuit who has been hauling around a NJ Copper in a PCGS holder with a melted insert for years.
