Health issues or otherwise? Seems like a lot of folks are not able to reach him, including me.

Last I heard from him was something to the effect of, "I hope to get back into coins some day..."

He's always been difficult to contact, just give it a little time (unless others know something I don't).

Maybe Dentuck would know? Dentuck is the Publisher of the CPG and Ken was the editor...I imagine they speak regularly. Anyone try sending a message to Dentuck?

Ken has had some health issues over the last few years, and is (I recently heard), trying to get caught up with his customers and people who have contacted him. He's "alive and well" though.

Well July of 2011 he asked me for my mint state 1911 D possible RPM ( D/S) and a I sent along a questionable 1972 DDO Die #5 for him to confer. Never heard back, still has my coins and I have sent emails, letters even legal action to get MY coins back. Sorry for his health issues, but he should have turned over stuff to others to take care of period. He has been thrown out of CONECA, and there is a long list of folks who are unable to get their coins back besides me. As his Ebay reputation comments and the fact his site has not been updated demonstrates he is still "not with us yet".

  • It seems his "Ken Potter's Bio Page" at the bottom of that listing needs updating if he was "thrown out of Coneca"...

Hope he and all concerned work this all out.

I agree with Watersport.....he should turn his stuff over if he is not able to do his job. I hope he is well.

Who is going to take his place on the CPG if he doesn't continue?????

He hasn't been thrown out of CONECA, and is in fact on the Board of Directors, as I am. From what he had said, he was really, really behind on everything and was trying to catch up. You might try contacting him again.

IMO K.P. and a few other experts, after trashing the WI D Extra Leaf quarters very early on and never being open-minded towards Rick Snow and Chris Pilliod's research on these interesting coins, left me and others with less than a fair assessment of the coins. Let each decide based on the facts whether their variety/error coins are significant or not. I just wonder what the verdict might have been if the Extra Leaf coins had surfaced only in MI. ? In hindsight, the dissenter opinions have enabled some to purchase quality Extra Leaf quarters at a lower price than if they had liked the coins. Let's see what K.P.'s 2009 DDR FY Cents do with his marketing skills.

  • I have been waiting since 2005 for the return of some DDR Wisconsin quarters from Potter. I also sent him some 2009-D (FY) Lincoln cent DDRs which have not been returned as well. I guess I should have learned the first time, but didn't. I have given it up as a lost cause.

That don't sound right. Did you call him on the phone or visit his table at a major show to see what the problem is?

In the OP's situation, Mr. Potter asked him to send a specific coin for evaluation. (11 d/s Lincoln) It is Mr. Potter's obligation to return correspondence or the coin in a timely fashion. If he has had health problems, I would understand. If he has been healthy enough to attend coin shows, than he is certainly healthy enough to take care of his obligations that he put off while dealing with those health issues. No correspondence at all with
several posters here. How would you feel if you had coins MIA for over a year? I for one would not be happy, no matter how stellar Mr. Potter's reputation had been in the past. JMO

Well, whoever koinpro is there's stuff listed. Maybe whomever is handling that stuff could respond to inquiries. Health issues, Well, I was hours from death last august and still had enough left to take care of my affairs.
  • Not to beat the drum, but this caveat found on the CONECA web site says a lot.

    http://conecaonline.org/content/coneca_attributers.html

During the last FUN show I was approached by a person who had sent their coins into K.P. and had not heard a word from him for awhile. I referred that person to the CONECA table, which was present at that show.

    Need I say more!
