They do? Where'd you hear that?

I'm guessing you have a pretty narrow definition of a coin collector.

What about this thread is sad to you? >>

    Silly question MLC.

I don't need MatchMadeInHeaven.com to give me their opinion if I am going to like my wife nor do I need a third party service to tell me if I am going to like my coin.
TPG's have a place and a need in this hobby.
But they should not be placed on that golden plateau in the clouds so many here place them.

I would prefer not to go back and forth with you or anyone else on this MLC.
Nothing will be accomplished and while I respect your need for a TPG approval please respect my not needing one.

Thanks Perry for your ability to speak so clearly using so few words.
Unlike me.... I have a hard time typing clearly because my hands move not just when I talk, but also when I type .

Last time I looked, I was a coin collector...plastic or not, I just recommend that if your not familiar with a certain series, buy it already graded/authenticated *ahem* by one of the top tier guys.

Perhaps he got that from your opening statment, in case you've forgotten: "Well, I would NEVER buy a coin that is not graded by PCGS". That statement sounds like a plastic collector not a coin collector.

JRocco, don't be too hard on yourself my friend. That's just a New York thing, they/we just can't help it.

Unlike Jonestown, nobody here is forced to drink the Kool Aid. If somebody chooses to buy only PCGS, that's their prerogative. Leaves more selection in the other stuff out there for the rest of us.

But yeah, I can sort of understand the Kool-Aid perspective a little bit, too. I'm getting ready to do a sort of Darkside "Box of 20" and will likely use mostly, if not only, PCGS for my post-1601 coins. Since I do my ancients with NGC, they will likely get most of my pre-1601 material.
