Pay Pal And out of Country Payments

First I know this isnt a Pay Pal or even a Ebay Q&A forum. However I sold a few coin set to a person that is from Pueto rico but has a US shipping address. He tells me when he goes to pay it says that I do not accept payments from outside the US.

The item is relatively inexpensive so no real worries about where its shipped to. Just wondering if anyone could possible help w/o flaming me on this message about posting it here.

Thank you in advance

Shannon

You can't have it both....sell to countries (last time I checked P.R. is a US Territory) and not accept payments from that part.
    A) You need to change your eBay settings to allow US Territories...
    B) You need to change your PayPal settings to allow currency conversions...however, in your case there should not be a currency conversion fee.

    PR is a US Territory

The PR people carry US passports! They use US$ and have mainland US stores and everything down there. It would be no different than shipping to the US Virgin Islands or Guam.

You do use DOMESTIC US Mail to get there.

I suggest considering flat rate boxes as it will require some big costs otherwise.

I suggest NOT trying to avoid shipping to the person just because they live in PR.

Now, if the guy has two shipping addresses, I would start asking questions. Ship to the confirmed PP address only.

    call paypal.

paypal is mistaken if they don't treat money from the territories as US payments.

I have my account set to block foreign bidders and I have never had any problems with bidders from Puerto Rico bidding or paying.

  • Its not an ebay issue. He has already bought the set. He just cannot pay for it. I have out of country blocked however he bought it and just need a way to pay it. You say change the settings. I was asking how to do it if you knew.

The question was how to change to accept the payment.

    something scrfewy is going on.

and I am also surprised it is treating PR as a foreign country.

I would not get advice from here, but instead call eBay and ask them what is going on.

  • I am very sorry I misread what he had written. His account is from Costa Rica. His order is only $18.25.

I just got off the phone, after waiting for a while on hold, with paypal.

For those that do not know how to change your settings here:

Click Profile from your account overview page
Click MY Selling tools on left hand side of screen Gray shaded box
Click Update on the side next to block payments
Second box down Block payments sent to me in a currency I do not hold: No convert to US Dollars

There are 2 fees associated with this however 1% of the order and $.30

Thanks to all that tried to help. I messed up and should of stated Costa Rica instead of Puerto Rico.

Thanks for all those that spent time trying to help me. Hope I help anyone that has the same problem.

Also why cant I search the message boards? lol

Paypal's currency conversion fee is 2.5% higher than the wholesale rate. Pretty standard in the banking industry. The other 3.2% you paid was from the US dollar being that much lower than the Canadian dollar.

Yeah, I agree. I can't search using chrome but can with Internet Explorer. It's weird.
