I picked up a 5 troy oz silver round from (I think) South Africa.
It has 2008, the africa contdinent, 5 troy ounces, 999 silver, and 018 on one side

On the other side has the big 5 of africa with the animals.

Proof like

Where do I find this listed?

It's a 5 oz bullion round and may not be listed anywhere.

It's still generic silver bringing 50c back of spot.
You see any South Africans eager to pay more?

    Typo
The most money I made are on coins I haven't sold.

    Got quoins?

It's definitely not a coin. My guess, private minted, limited number, silver round. Not uncommon.

  • My dealer would be paying spot if their supply was tight.

Probably .50-1.00 back o spot if they had plenty of silver on hand.

IMO, I would take it down to the B&M and trade it for 5 1oz. premium bars/rounds.

And kick in the 10-15 bucks it would take to complete the deal.

However, i also always say collect what you like, and in that case ignore me, and enjoy!

Wait, did I just contradict myself?!?!

    Enjoy!

    Not uncommon

If it's not uncommon, why can't anyone find out anything more about it? Worth looking into more imo PTVETTER

Rarity is an odd thing. If it's so unusual that nobody can find out what it is, where it's from--and more important--if it's legit, then nobody is going to want it.

If you could google it and easily find it's a Kwasiland 5 ounce proof piece struck in .999 silver by the Franklin Mint and limited to 100 pieces, you'd almost certainly have something of more value than a ?? piece made by ??? for ??? out of ???.

My advice: Check the edge very carefully for mintmarks, hallmarks, makers marks, etc. Also post the other side to give us a chance to find it.
