America the beautiful 5oz coin

I've been very busy and I'm thinking about buying 1-2 america the beautiful 5oz silver "quarter"
At $205+ shipping and siler at 32+/- and ounce now do you guys think this is a good buy?
If one was to sell one would there be a slight premium for it? I see mintage is set at 35,000 per coin and I like the glacier national park one. Don't care for the puerto rice coin. lol
At $205/coin roughly $42/oz it's a better buy then the american eagles at $46 plus shipping.
Thoughts?

Thanks

You must be referring to the P mint mark bars.. For me, to much of a premium above melt. BTW the bullion version, also tied to spot + around $3 -$3.50 per oz, in my book, a better deal.

The mint does not sell the bullion ones directly. You can buy them from any number of bullion dealers. There are also a fair amount available on Ebay.

I think it's a neat series and I've been buying them from the mint. I wouldn't consider them to necessarily be a good investment but not every coin that I buy has to be for investment.

Agreed, but I(like most)like to get the most for my $$$.
With that said, with my aging eyes those coins do look nice and it's easier to appreciate a larger coin without the aid of magnification. image

I like the bullion version strictly as a silver play. The premium above spot is less than silver eagles and who knows, there may be a numismatic premium in the future.

  • I'm with the minority who likes the series. I collect both the bullion and P versions and will continue to do so as long as they're produced. There are several folks out there hoping the Mint halts sales of some of the earlier P "coins" to start creating some keys similar to the spouse series. Provident, Apmex, MCM, and the Bay are among the places where the bullion versions are readily available at spot + a premium.

Great series that honors a national park in each state and territory which makes more sense than the first spouses. Also, these U.S. mint made legal tender coins are both the heaviest and the largest coins ever produced by the United States. Sometimes size does matter.imageimage

  • One must also give some consideration to the fine silver .9999 pure, that should bring in more than the spot price which is quoted at .999 pure

    ATB's are .999, not .9999

Successful coin BST transactions with Gerard and segoja.

Successful card BST transactions with cbcnow, brogurt, gstarling, Bravesfan 007, and rajah 424.

  • I'm a fan of the series.I collect both versions just for the heck of it.This year I'm thinking of buying a few of each of the bullion coins just in case the price of silver appreciates nicely.
