rxerrxer Posts: 280 ✭✭
and I'm all the way up to $0.82 and that's after 12 years of collecting.
Another 36 coins and I'll have a dollar. Anyone else out there average
less than 7 cents of coins per year ????

Well, I collect another small denomination, and the same concept applies in my case. My reference collection of half dimes currently consists of 1,937 total pieces, for a face value of just $96.85. Since my homeowners insurance covers 'cash' up to $100, I should be okay. image

I wish there was a price guide for unpublished candid glass plate photographs of the Mauretania under construction, or the demolition of the Trylon and Perisphere from 1939 image
I'd write one but there are so very few collectors...

Sounds like you need to be called Kinghalfdime, not Mrhalfdime! image

I probably only have 30 or so bust dimes or 3$ face image

MR Halfdime is an understatement. You need to be on Hoarders.

I would not be surprised if BigMoose's core collection was around 10 cents! Me, just my Box of 20 favorites is over $150.

    I have 109 Bust Half Dimes, let's see...... That's $10.90

Set of PCGS PF Liberty Nickels, 31 coins there's another $1.55

PCGS Proof Sets 1950-1964, that makes another $14.65...

I guess if things get really tough I've got $27....

My business strike 2 cent piece collection adds up to $.20, and it's the only complete set I have right now (other than my Walker short set).
I have not bothered to add up my other coins...........total value might be in the $50 range.

I am no math major (ok actually i was) but 109 half dimes adds up to $5.45 in my head and not 10.90. Not trying to cut your collection in half image

Don't feel bad though as the face value of my core set is $0 considering they demonetized the series. (ignoring the vague coin act of 1965)

Hmm, if the gubermint were to confiscate all of the loose change here at face value, we would not make much of a dent on the national debt.

So I guess your coins are safe! image

  • I have different series I collect so it would break down to something like this in face value:

Toned quarters $35. Toned halves $50. Toned dimes $14. Toned dollars $80.
and my Morgan 1879 - S which is the only year & mint I collect $77. Then there are
the pedigree or hoard & collection coins $133.15

Ya know, I could tell my wife the face value of the coins rather than what they cost I get
in the mail and maybe she wouldn't mind too much.

Wife says, " and how much was this package? " Me, " O just 6 bucks honey. "

My Franklin set is worth $17.50. The Dansco Kennedy set would be another $70. The Lincolns...maybe another $2. Not even a nice dinner out. image

My 1950-1970 set of Cameo proof and SMS coins has a face value of $19.11.

The average face value of each of the 105 coins in the set is 18.2 cents.
