OT - new eBay return automation, your thoughts?

I chose this board over the darkside because it seems to get slightly more traffic ... What do y'all think about the new eBay automated return system? It's not mandatory, so I haven't subscribed to it yet, but naturally they're promoting it quite heavily including Final Value Fee discounts for sellers who opt-in.

Here's some of the fine print:
By opting into the new managed returns process, you acknowledge and agree to its terms and conditions, and you authorize eBay to include any return shipping charges and autorefund amounts on your invoice as a fee which may be charged to your automatic payment method on file, if any; and acknowledge that eBay Buyer Protection—as amended from time to time—has special provisions to accommodate a claim in an item is returned through eBay's managed returns process and a timely refund is not issued.

I signed up for it. I haven't had a return in years and do not charge for shipping. So, for the extra 5% kickback on top of the 20% in FVF, I'd give it a try.

I don't get many returns, but I don't see how this will change much. I provide refunds as soon as I have the item back in hand, and this doesn't force me to pay the return shipping (which I do on occasion when warranted). So at least for now, I'll take the extra 5% kickback and see if anything changes.

  • If I bought a coin on Ebay and wanted to return it for some reason, I'd pay the postage back to the seller-especially if shipping was free. It's the only decent thing to do...

I'm more than happy to pay return shipping when I make an error in the listing and it
could affect the value. If not, then the buyer can foot the bill to get it back to me. I
    won't participate for now.
